Alfred Russel Wallace : Alfred Wallace : A. R. Wallace :
Russel Wallace : Alfred Russell Wallace (sic)

This photo portrait was taken on 6 June 1887 (the day after Wallace gave his 'If a Man Die...' lecture) at the studio of the famous photographer Isaiah West Taber, in San Francisco. It was published in the 18 June 1887 issue of the Mining and Scientific Press, on page 397, from a copy of which this image was scanned (thus the low quality). I do not know whether an original print or negative exists. copyright 2009 Charles H. Smith.
