Dr. Wallace and Vivisection (S622a: 1905)

Editor Charles H. Smith's Note: A portion of a letter to W. R. Hadwen printed on page 9 of the 20 September 1905 issue of The Daily News (London). To link directly to this page connect with: http://people.wku.edu/charles.smith/wallace/S622A.htm

Dr. Alfred Russel Wallace, the eminent scientist, writes in connection with the annual meeting of the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection:

"I have for some years come to the conclusion that nothing but total abolition will meet the case of vivisection. I am quite disgusted at the frequency of the most terrible experiments to determine the most trivial facts recorded in the publication of scientific societies month by month--evidently carried on for the interest of the 'research' and the reputation it gives."
