Beowulf is an exciting tale concerning a man with supernatural powers.  These powers help him acheive incredible goals and overcome extreme obstacles.  Throughout your exploration of the story and this webquest, you should pretend you are a modern-day superhero.  Take a few seconds to develop your persona, a name, and incredible power.  Perhaps, you are like Superman because you have move with the speed of a bullet.  Just remember all superheroes have a flaw--Daredevil was blind; Superman's was kryptonite.  Be original with your choice; you could pretend to be an exisiting superhero.

Now that you have developed your superhero title and skills, let's move on to your adventure.  First, you will need to attend a superhero training camp.  You have been working on your own for some time; however, a new law handed down by the United States government states that all acting superheroes must register and take classes on controlling and using their powers.  All classes are based on the original superhero, Beowulf.  You have heard about him and you have read the epic poem that causes his legacy to live on.  You sign up for several courses, including a section on Old English because you want to develop a unique style of speech.  Next, you will identify Grendel's in modern society. Then, you will use your knowledge of the heroic cycle to write a  recommendation letter to nominate a super hero for Time Magazine's Hero of the Year award.  Finally, you will construct a PowerPoint presentation in which you compare a famous super hero or powerhouse with Beowulf.

Pay attention in class.
