Chapter Summaries: Requirements
There are nine writing assignments that correspond to the seven
chapters and other portions of Gould's The Mismeasure of Man.
- The first summary
should include the "Introduction to the Revised and Expanded
Edition" section and Chapter 1 (pages 19-61).
- The seventh assignment is a summary of Chapter 7 and the Epiogue
(pages
351-366).
- The eighth assignment is
a summary of "Critique of The Bell Curve" (pages 367-390).
- The
ninth assignment is a summary of "Three Centuries'
Perspectives on Race and Racism" (pages 391-424).
Each writing assignment consists of a typed, one-page, single-spaced
summary of the main points raised in each section of the book.
Paper margins are one inch on all sides; font sizes are 10-12 point.
Essays longer than one page will not be accepted!

Each writing assignment must include at least three relevant and
appropriately cited quotes from the chapter.
All non-original information
must be cited appropriately.
Each writing assignment is worth 20 points for a total of 180
points.
