VOMBATIDAE
(Wombats)
The family Vombatidae (Order Diprotodontia, Suborder Vombatiformes) is a
small family
of
marsupial mammals consisting of three extant species: Lasiorhinus kreffti
(eastcentral
Queensland), Lasiorhinus latifrons (southern South Australia and
southeastern
Western Australia), and Vombatus
ursinus (Tasmania and some Bass Strait
islands, southeastern South Australia,
Victoria, southern and
western New South
Wales, and extreme southeastern Queensland).
