RHINOPOMATIDAE (Mouse-tailed Bats)
The Rhinopomatidae is a family of microchiropteran bats consisting of at
least four species of the genus
Rhinopoma: hardwickii (Africa, Middle East, and east to
Burma), macinnesi
(West Africa),
microphyllum (Africa, Middle
East, and east to Sumatra), and muscatellum (Arabian Peninsula
and
east to India). The patchiness of
distribution suggested by the map may be real or apparent only,
the result
of a limited number of known specimens.
