NYCTERIDAE (Slit-faced
Bats)
The Nycteridae is a family of microchiropteran bats represented by sixteen
living species of the
genus Nycteris. Apart from a concentration of species in Subsaharan
Africa, members of the
genus have found their way to peripheral locations north of the Sahara, on
Madagascar, and
in Southeast Asia.
