NOCTILIONIDAE
(Bulldog Bats)
The Noctilionidae is a family of microchiropteran bats represented by two
living species: Noctilio
albiventris
(Central America, and northern and central South America) and Noctilio
leporinus
(central
and southern
Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and northern and central South
America).
The limits to their distribution
in central Brazil are not yet known. Noctilionids are also known as
"fishing
bats" for their unique predatory habits.
