MORMOOPIDAE
The Mormoopidae is a family of New World bats consisting of two genera of
living
species: Mormoops (two or three species
"ghost-faced bats," West Indies and
southernmost western U.S. south to northwestern South America), and Pteronotus
(seven species "moustached bats" and "naked-backed bats", West Indies and
northcentral Mexico south to Bolivia and southcentral Brazil). Distribution
in the
deep Amazon unestablished. Present on some nearshore islands, including
ABC Islands, Margarita, Trinidad, Coiba, Mujeres, and Cozumel.
