DINOMYIDAE

The Dinomyidae is a family of hystricomorph rodents represented by the one
living
species, Dinomys branickii. The full extent of its distribution
in the
western Amazon basin is not known,
but it is thought to be declining in numbers
due to habitat destruction and
hunting.
