For the essay, please bear in mind the following points: Avoid at all costs merely rehashing plots. Strive to write a well thought out, carefully organized essay, insightful and original, yet bearing at all times on the texts themselves, expressed clearly in comprehensible French. The essay should convey a sense of progression or movement, as well as familiarity with the works under discussion. Each should likewise manifest discerning critical judgment and a growing sensitivity to artistic achievement in literature. State clearly what the essay is meant to show right from the start. Take nothing for granted; assume that nothing is obvious. See to it that the essay does indeed achieve its stated purpose. Keep the essay focused on the topic; all statements should contribute to the development or elaboration of the essay topic. Show that you are familiar with the author or work. You must write in French.
