Adobe Illustrator Next
  • Choose an everyday item then 're-create' it in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Use a document in 8.5 x 11 inches (portrait) or 11 x 8.5 inches (landscape)
  • Save your illustration as PDF then turn it in on Bb.

Tips:
  • Use simple shapes, curves, and colors and try to capture the essence of an item without making it too realistic.

    • Some illustrators attempt to capture every detail in a shape while others 'stylize' and 'simplify' on their drawings, capturing the boldest contours and hinting at tones, shapes, and lighting without trying to capture every little nuance.

    • All it takes is a little 'creativity' and some 'observation' of the actual objects to figure out...
      • what is 'worth' drawing and what can leave out.
      • which ones are most 'important' in helping a viewer understand the form
      • which ones could be exaggerated for added visual interest
      • which one could be removed because they are unimportant
