Pasavento. Revista de estudios hispánicos. Número 2
Nos complace hacerles llegar la convocatoria del próximo número de PASAVENTO. REVISTA DE ESTUDIOS HISPÁNICOS. Se trata de una revista digital dirigida al lector e investigador especializado, y abierta a las diversas manifestaciones artísticas (narrativa, poesía, teatro, cine, cómic) que se han producido en España e Hispanoamérica a partir de 1975. Pasavento aspira a convertirse en una revista de referencia en su campo, por lo que hemos tratado de responder a los criterios de calidad exigidos por las distintas agencias de evaluación.
Les invitamos a participar en nuestra sección de miscelánea (convocatoria abierta todo el año) y en el monográfico coordinado por la Prof. Teresa López Pellisa sobre “Realidad virtual y Cibercultura” (convocatoria abierta hasta el 31 de enero de 2013), así como en nuestra sección de reseñas. Dedicará su próxima edición a mujeres, hombres, y personas de géneros diversos, como víctimas, combatientes y sobrevivientes: actoras y actores de conflictos en la trinchera, la plaza pública, la casa y la cama.
Este Dossier incluirá artículos que indaguen sobre los múltiples roles que juegan hombres y mujeres en todo tipo de conflictos, desde los militares, los políticos, hasta todos los que conciernen tanto al rol reproductivo de las mujeres como a las diversas sexualidades. Al mismo tiempo, las temáticas pueden ir desde las causas estructurales y manifestaciones de los
conflictos, hasta las respuestas y búsquedas de soluciones que pueden presentarse, sin desconocer las múltiples intersecciones entre raza, género, clase social, nación, generación, etc. Para mayor información y envío de manuscritos comunicarse con:

Brazilian Literature: Contemporary Urban Fiction. An NEH Summer Seminar for College and University Teachers. Arizona State University. To be held in Sao Paulo, June 17-July 12, 2013
The seminar will focus on five major works of Brazilian urban fiction, basically from the twentieth century. Through a detailed examination of these works as literary texts that interpret the urban experience in Rio de Janeiro, S?o Paulo, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre, the seminar will provide 16 particiapnts (14 professors and 2 advanced doctoral astudents) with an important grounding in Brazilian literature. Participants will be college and university professors of Latin American studies, some of whom may have some familiarity with Brazil. The latter will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Brazilian literature, while other participants will receive a solid introduction to Brazilian culture through major literary texts. Portuguese remains a critical language in the U.S., and both the seminar proper and the language workshop that will be an auxiliary part of the program will contribute toward addressing the critical lack of trained scholars in the field.

Ambitos Feministas. Fall 2013 Issue #3
The editors of Ámbitos Feministas, the multidisciplinary journal of Feministas Unidas (http://feministas-unidas.org) invite unpublished critical essays that explore Feminist issues in Spanish, Spanish-American, Luso-Brazilian, Afro-Latin American, and U.S. Hispanic and Latino Studies (literatures, cinema, art, gender, and cultural studies).
Essays in Spanish, Portuguese or English, need to conform to the most recent versions of the MLA Style Manual and the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, between 17-25 double-spaced pages in length, including all notes, as well as the Works Cited. Submissions will be subject to peer review.

Crime story and International Feminism: the Influence of Sara Paretsky on Crime Fiction around the World
We invite proposals for a collection of essays entitled The Crime Story and International Feminism:
The Influence of Sara Paretsky around the World. The contributions should meet at least one of the
following criteria:
1) The essay should address crime fiction as a "gendered" literary genre, paying particular
attention to questions of gender roles that have appeared, for example, in Paretsky's novels;
2) The essay should assess the international influence of Paretsky?s novels. How has the
success of Paretsky's novels in different cultures affected the genre and its authors/readers?
3) What similar characteristics of Paretsky?s protagonist, V.I. Warsharwki, can be attributed (and
subsequent parallels made) to other feminist female protagonists in novels of the crime fiction
genre?

CEISAL, la Universidad Fernando Pessoa y el Núcleo de Estudios Latinoamericanos invitan a participar en este encuentro desde el 12 hasta el 15 de junio de 2013, para interpretar los hechos en los diferentes campos de las ciencias sociales. Dentro de estos caminos observaremos la construcción histórica y la identidad latinoamericana en el siglo XXI, promoviendo una mayor autorreflexión y para facilitar diálogos transdisciplinarios. Por ello, se abren las propuestas para ponencias sobre literatura hispanoamericana, desde el 1 de septiembre hasta el 1 de noviembre del 2012. The 1st Biennial U.S. Latina/o Literary Theory and Criticism Conference: Haciendo Caminos: Mapping the Futures of U.S. Latina/o Literatures. John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York

This conference aims to draw a critical mass of U.S. Latina/o literary critics and theorists, both foundational thinkers and emerging voices, for the first time in the history of the field. In response to a literature extant in the United States for roughly 150 years, U.S. Latina/o literary scholarship has grown with exponential force over the last two decades. Thinking through an array of subjects from borders to exile, poetics to politics, bilingualism, race, and sexuality, U.S. Latina/o literary scholarship offers new dimensions to the study of “American” literature. As the inaugural conference, this gathering marks a historic intervention calling attention to the robust contributions of U.S. Latina/o writers. For too long, academic conferences have relegated Latina/o literary scholars to isolated panels, in large part fueled by the erroneous perception that U.S. Latina/o literature lacks the depth and breadth of other established literatures. Yet this flies in the face not only of a rich body of literature, but scholarly community laboring to shape the field and find greater institutional inclusion. Thus, this three-day conference offers an exclusive space for intellectual exploration and exchange on a literature that sits within literary studies like the proverbial elephant in the room, just too substantial to ignore. Consolidating the field, inciting generative conversations, creating innovative modes of reading and understanding, are some of the scholarly objectives of this conference.
Located in New York City, home to one of the largest and most diverse Latina/o populations in the country and birthplace to some of the important literary movements in Latina/o literature, this conference boldly calls for a fundamental reawakening of the field. One that provides the space for critics of multiple U.S. Latina/o literatures to congregate and become (re)acquainted in order to expand our scholarship and build critical networks of support. In an era when Ethnic Studies is being attacked, we must brazenly champion, across our departments and institutions, a brilliant literature and scholarship that shine a path to a more complex and just humanity.
Proposals for panels or individual papers are welcomed. Undergraduate and graduate student submissions are encouraged. Papers might include, but are not limited to the following:

XVIII Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Chilena de Estudios Literarios
Tengo el agrado de saludarlas (os) y, a nombre de la Presidencia de SOCHEL y de la Comisión Organizadora , invitarlas (os) cordialmente a participar del XVIII Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Chilena de Estudios Literarios, evento que se convoca bajo el tópico “Procesos de Transdisciplinariedad e Interculturalidad en la Construcción de Identidades Culturales y Literarias” y que se desarrollará los días 7, 8, 9 y 10 de noviembre del presente año en la Universidad de Los Lagos, en Osorno, Chile.
Esta nueva versión tiene como propósito central, por una parte, analizar el estado actual y las proyecciones de los estudios literarios y, por otra, reflexionar y debatir sobre cómo las relaciones entre identidad, cultura y literatura se abren a procesos de interculturalidad y transdisciplinariedad que impactan la teoría, la apreciación estética, la reconfiguración de los géneros y sus formas de expresión, el canon de las generaciones, el imaginario social, la literaturización de las territorialidades y las interacciones entre texto artístico-literario y pensamiento.
En la Convocatoria Oficial que les adjunto encontrarán más información sobre las actividades, principales y complementarias, las mesas temáticas, fechas claves y direcciones para una mejor coordinación y para atender sus inquietudes y consultas.
