- To download Adobe Acrobat Reader:
- Link to Adobe at the address www.adobe.com.
- Hit the button "Get Acrobat Reader" and simply
follow the directions. This will place an installer on your computer
in the location to which your download preferences are set.
- If your browser is not set to do so automatically, you may
have to use "Stuffit Expander" to decompress the downloaded
file on a Macintosh computer.
- Double click the installer. The preferences on your browser
may be set so that it uses the plug-in "PDFViewer"
(causing the document to appear in your browser) or merely activates
the reader when a PDF file is accessed (causing the document
to appear in a new window outside the browser).
- To view materials:
- Hit the link to the materials. The mini-unit should show
in your browser if the plug-in is installed or in a new window
otherwise.
- Occasionally, the user may receive a message "Unable
to create the font ... . Some characters may not display or print
correctly." and the screen may show some trash characters
when using the plug-in. Hitting the "Reload" button
will sometimes clear up this problem, but if not, simply download
the file to your hard drive and view with the Reader.
- To download materials:
- While viewing the mini-unit to be downloaded, scroll to File:Save
As... and save as Source (as opposed to Text).
