Some or all of my grades
or skills are not competitive for graduate school.
- If possible, retake courses,
to improve your grades and learn the prerequisite skills. You need these skills
in order to succeed in many graduate programs.
- Study for the Graduate
Record Exam in order to earn the highest possible score.
- Take a graduate class
and earn an A in it to demonstrate that you can do the work.
- Apply to a variety of
graduate programs, including Terminal Masters programs.
- Identify several possibilities
for your time and energy if you are not admitted to a graduate program. Work
for a few years and reapply. Demonstrate by other means that you have these
skills. Reevaluate the particular type of program you chose initially. Perhaps
another path will better fit your interests and record, for example, apply
to a master's level program if you weren't accepted by a doctoral program.
Upon successful completion of a master's you will be more competitive for
doctoral programs
