MEGADERMATIDAE (False Vampire Bats)

The Megadermatidae is a family of microchiropteran bats consisting of four genera: Cardioderma (one species, East
Africa), Lavia (one species, western, eastern, and central Africa), Macroderma (one species, northern and central
Australia), and Megaderma (two species, southern and southeastern Asia). Recorded from Zanzibar, Sri Lanka,
the Andaman Islands, Hainan, Côn Son (off southern Vietnam), Groote Eylandt (off Australia's Northern Territory)
and many of the islands of the western Australasian Archipelago.
