DIDELPHIDAE: CALUROMYINAE

Wilson and Reeder list the Caluromyinae as a subfamily within the marsupial
family Didelphidae; some other authors give the group full familial status. It
contains three genera and five species: Caluromys (three species, to the
extent of range as mapped above); Caluromysiops irrupta (western Amazon
basin); and Glironia venusta (western Amazon basin). Caluromys philander
is found on the islands of Margarita and Trinidad, and C. derbianus on several
islands nearshore to Panama.
