Climate Change and
Prediction
Theory/Methodology
- Variability
analysis in temperature, precipitation and soil temperature;
- Correlation analysis between precipitation and soil
temperature and moisture;
- Modeling study of impacts of land surface processes on
short range climate;
- Development of an simplified nonlinear climate model for
theoretical research;
- Globally studied the ensemble prediction method and
obtained theoretical results about limit number of ensemble samples,
using a simplified climate model;
- Predictability study: obtained theoretical upper limit for
daily and monthly prediction;
- Practice in seasonal and annual precipitation prediction:
used soil temperature anomaly as the main predictor to predict summer
total precipitation. The prediction was provided for final discussion
to Chinese Meteorological administration every year in spring. Annual
precipitation was also conducted;
- Soil temperature, together with geothermal flow, was also
used in earthquake study.
