SERVICE TO BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY

The thermal analysis laboratory has provided services for several national (LECO Corporation, Dow Chemical, DuPont and Lear Corp.) and regional (Huntsman Packaging Corp.,Stoody, Eilly Industrial and Premium Allied Tools) agencies since its inception. Analytical results for over a thousand samples have been provided to these agencies and to WKU researchers. Samples are diverse, ranging from everyday products like meat, to the more exotic, like explosives. However, a lot of the work is concerned with the testing of coal and fuelsamples.

The revenue brought into the laboratory has been used to purchase much needed equipment. Therefore, this laboratory has been elevated to the top five percent of the university thermal analysis laboratories on a nationwide basis.
