Area of a
Parallelogram.
The area of a parallelogram is given by
A = (base)(height).
Positioning the parallelogram so that the long side
is down
will not change the area. If the long side were called
the
height--instead of the base, as depicted above--then
interchanging the
labels "base" and "height" gives the same result.
