Welcome to Psy 361, Spring 2004. I'm excited you are joining the class. The course website is ready for you. Please print and read the following directions.
[If you haven't completed Psy 100 (Intro), Psy 201/210 (Experimental Design and Stat) *before you start this course, I need to speak to you ASAP. Call me 270-745-6508.]
There are several small
assignments to be done by the end of the first week. The purpose of these assignments
is
1) to make sure we can find each other via email, etc.
2) to help me get acquianted with you and
3) to introduce some various forms of assessment.
The Blackboard Portal URL
is http://ecourses.wku.edu
This site is your entry to the Psy 361 webpage, which is the primary source
for information on Psy 361. Visit the above URL, **read the instructions** and
select Login.
Once logged in you will see a list of all courses in which you are enrolled that are also using Blackboard's CourseInfo websoftware. Select PSY MEASUREMENT to enter this course.
When you enter the course, go first to the syllabus and then to Assignments-- schedule of tasks. Click on the link to open an rtf file with the documents. Then go to Communication and try out the Discussion Board. Finally, go back and look over all the other buttons. Plan at least an hour to 2 hours for getting oriented initially.
Remember, the first week of school the Internet gets very slow, especially from 3:30-6 or 7. Try visiting in off-hours.
Persons who have never taken
an Internet course or seen Blackboard:
Plan an hour just to familiarize yourself with the website, not to read anything.
Don't try to do any assignments during this hour. Wait until you've seen everything
before starting on assignments. They will make more sense. If you are local,
come by my office and I'll personally guide you through it. There is a learning
curve but in 3 weeks you'll have a routine.

I do hope you will come by my office and meet me if you live locally, or at least give me a phone call. I think it helps you succeed if we can touch base early in the term. See my syllabus for directions!
