A. Students ask me all the time if they can use an older edition of the textbook. Unfortunately, the only answer I can give is that we will use the latest edition in class and all exam questions will come from the latest edition. Often, publishers make minimal changes to a book and launch a new edition of the book. As faculty, we typically don't know how significant the changes are in the new edition -- changes are hard to track unless the publisher identifies the changes. If you choose to use an earlier edition, you do so at your own risk.
Q. I am on a tight budget, where can I find the cheapest price for this textbook?
A. Since I know that book prices are often very expensive, I am providing links for you to use to find the least expensive copy of the book. The first link is a New York Times article on "How to Find Cheaper College Textbooks". It discusses many options to include renting textbooks. The next four links are search engines for books. They search all the booksellers on the web to find the cheapest prices and will provide you with the cost of the book plus shipping. When searching for books online, I always recommend that you search using the ISBN -- that way you get the correct edition of the book. If you search by the title, you need to be sure that you are purchasing the correct edition of the book. Keep in mind that your book will be mailed to you and that may take a week to ten days before you receive it.
