ANDORIAN
by Davy Stone & Chip Kraus
This Andorian was made from a ST Khan figure.  What drew me (or more specifically Chip, since he was the one who initially had this idea) to this figure was his thick white hair and rigid facial features.  We decided early on that we would not try to emulate the "old school" Andorians of the original series; instead, since they were so rarely seen in TNG time, we would customize our version of how modern Andorians might look.

Because Andorians are supposedly a warrior race, and because this was our first custom ever, we decided to make no modifications to the body.  Khan was already wearing some kind of armor-plated shirt, so that was painted silver, replacing the old Andorians chain-mail.  The tunic was made from a piece of vinyl remnant bought at an apolstery shop.  To make his antennae I first heated a straightened paperclip, and then pressed it into his head to make holes.  After gluing the wires in his head, I used some very old plumber's putty to shape them.  I think the putty was too old, because it was extremely crumbly when I tried to mix it, and that made it more difficult than it should have been.

Finally, I decided that a warrior race needs weapons, and since no other races in the Trek universe uses staffs, I gave him Andorian one from a Shadow figure.
