LIVING ARCHAEOLOGY
WEEKEND
Sponsors,
Funding, and Volunteers
In 2006 the US Forest Service, the
Kentucky Organization of Professional Archaeologists (KyOPA), and the
Kentucky Archaeological Survey (KAS), which is jointly administered by
the Kentucky Heritage Council and the University of Kentucky Department
of Anthropology, signed a memorandum of agreement to host and
co-organize Living Archaeology Weekend. Prior to 2006, the US Forest
Service funded, organized, and hosted Living Archaeology Weekend.
KyOPA has assumed primary responsibility for raising funds for Living
Archaeology Weekend. In 2007, archaeological contract firms working in
Kentucky provided the majority of funds needed to cover the expenses of
the event. In 2008, KyOPA received several competitive grants and
secured other funding from a wide range of organizations and
individuals. A number of additional organizations and individuals
provided in-kind contributions in 2008.
The Living Archaeology Weekend Steering Committee greatly appreciates
the cash and in-kind contributions provided by each and every one of
the sponsors, who are listed below in alphabetical order. Individuals
and organizations who wish to contribute cash or in-kind services for
the 2009 LAW event should contact Darlene Applegate, Chair of the KyOPA
Living Archaeology Weekend Committee, at dapplegate@vci.net. No
contribution is too small!
