Darren witnessed his entire family slaughtered by Lycans, including his father, George, whose severed head was thrown into Darren's lap. In a panic, Darren grabbed his father's pistol and gunned down one Lycan just as a squad of Death Dealers hit the Lycan pack. One of the Death Dealers turned Darren on a whim, and he has been undead ever since.
Darren seems normal most of the time, except he believes his father's spirit is now in his pistol. He talks to "George" all the time, asking him advice and referring to his gun as a real person. He gets insanely angry if anyone insinuates "George" is not a real person. Most people do not survive "George's" retort.
