Character Background:
Vorid Thaynnor became obsessed at early age with determining the origins of his people. As an Ursine, which is a race of humanoid bears, he spent most of his youth in the seclusion of the Reaching Woods but soon began to tire of the solitary existence. He ventured out, seeking knowledge of Ursine history.
He eventually learned the story of an ancient, powerful druid that traveled the Realms with a Brown Bear as his companion. The druid became very attached to his companion, and chose to grant it human intelligence through the casting of a spell known as awaken.
Over the many years that followed, the offspring of that bear and those he mated with evolved to a more humanoid form, resulting in the eventual emergence of the Ursine.
Vorid knew of druids, but had not been fully exposed to their kind. Learning of the power that druids posses, he decided that this was a path he must follow and become a druid himself. As Vorid became more and more powerful as a druid his desire for knowledge began to warp and distort into one for strength and power. He continued to follow the ways of the druid, but through becoming a disciple of Malar - the Beastlord - he further developed his power for his own purposes.
After several years of service under Malar, Vorid began having visions of faraway lands, unknown surroundings, and strange creatures. These nightly scenes continued to haunt him until he set out for parts unknown, determined to locate - and destroy - the root cause.
