Session 2June 1st, 2006
Player Notes:
- Mirror Room - Base and 1/3 of mirror are covered in arcane symbols of transportation. The mirror base is wooden and lacquered. Shards are a black shiny substance (sold well to Yellowknife). There is a script on the walls of the mirror room dealing with a story.
- Fresco (Painting Room) - Depicts 7 halls, 3each with a color and lantern held by a chain: orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and red.
- Lantern Room - Same 7 halls as described in the fresco, all the same colors. Lanterns missing out of indigo and red.

Good, insightful question. Examination of the armband reveals it to be Elven in craftsmanship. Although it is valuable, it is obviously of much, much later design than the cairn.

Session 4June 29th, 2006
DM Game Results E-Mail:
For those who could not make it, here is a summary of events. The party revived Krismorel after her fall from the lantern room above. The group then set out to find the source of the skittering sound and disturbed a colony of angry acid beetles. In addition, a giant bombardier beetle was among them. The party fought viciously, and Tarren fled and disturbed another giant bombardier beetle. The group was caught without much in the way of area effects, which allowed the beetle swarm to devastate the party. Valgen and Thoril did a good job of dealing damage with torches, while Lyrin blasted away with burning hands. Finally, Krismorel burned up the last of the swarm. Meanwhile, an isolated Tarren slew one beetle and charged back down the hallway to destroy the second. After resting for a while, the party investigated the room the beetles came from and found three skeletal remains. They recovered three potions of cure light wounds, a ring of feather falling, and a pearl of power (1st level). The party disturbed a statue, which animated and attempted to destroy Krismorel, but the party was able to step away from it and allow it to deactivate. Shortly thereafter, the party discovered a hallway and stair leading down into water. Krismorel cast light on herself and swam down into the water. She was nearly killed by a water creature of some sort which protects the area. The party retreated from the room and returned to Daggerford. They consulted a while with "Yellowknife", the local wizard.

Session 6August 3rd, 2006

The party started in the Happy Cow waiting for Kullen, the albino half-orc, and his band of ruffians to arrive. Before long, they entered the tavern and took seats around the bar and dogfight pits. Several of the characters sat back and nursed drinks while Tarren struck up conversation with Kullen. After a while, he convinced Kullen to sell him some information about the Land farmstead for 200 gp. Kullen took Tarren outside and spoke to him at length. Tarren returned to gather the crew and let them know his findings. He had discovered Kullen and pals were hired by a Waterdhavian necromancer named Filge to bring him bodies. Rather than kill some people (they weren't paid that much), they dug up the Land graves and brought him the bones. Also, Kullen's cohort in crime, Skutch, was eaten by an owlbear during the grave robbery. Kullen also said he knew the whereabouts of Filge and would tell Tarren where to find him in exchange for a promise; Kullen demanded Tarren bring him Filge's eyes. Tarren agreed, with the understanding that if he did not deliver, Kullen when come for Tarren's peepers. Tarren learned Filge had holed up in an old observatory north of town.
The party set out, with a tipsy Valgen and Krismorel in tow, up the stairway to the observatory. Under the stairs, the party found a tool shed and busted it open. Inside a ravenous tomb mote waited. The tomb mote, a housecat-sized undead creature made up of animated grave dirt, hair, teeth, and old bones, fought valiantly trying to infect everyone with corpse bloat, but it was ultimately slain by Lyrin's magic missile. Quietly, Thoril and Tarren hacked the front door off its hinges. The moment they fell in, a trio of skeletons behind overturned tables launched a volley of heavy crossbow bolts toward the party. All three struck Thoril in the chest, including one critical hit, which brought him to -2 hit points. After a brief strategic "flee down the stairs" moment, the party mustered their courage and barged into the room. Valgen tripped several skeletons while Tarren attempted to hack the crossbows apart. Outside, Krismorel used her powerful magic and deft healing skills to bring Thoril back from the brink of death and back into the fight. Lyrin used true strike and ran into the fray, blasting a skeleton with a brutal strike from his Morningstar. In a few moments, he finished off the other two. Thinking quickly, the party gathered up the bones in case they were former Lands. The party found a hallway and several empty rooms and an office. They then discovered the kitchen and a dining hall filled with zombies. However, the zombies seemed listless and non-threatening. So, the party smashed their heads in.
The group then moved upstairs to find Filge's bedchamber, filled with strange items, including a mummified goblin holding a platter with a several human female head on it. Tarren smashed the stuffed goblin, setting off an alarm. The room quickly searched the room, finding a letter. Thoril realized he'd run into Filge before in some of his less-than-legal endeavors in Waterdeep. He quickly told the party Filge loved the undead and used strange fluids injected into his body to enhance his powers. A shout from the room above said something along the lines of "Arise my monstrosities!" We closed the evening to the sound of glass shattering all over the third floor.
Session 7August 10th, 2006
DM Game Results E-Mail:
For those not present, the party was joined by Evo Shandor and Belben Carter and preceded to head upstairs to the third floor of the observatory. There, they encountered Filge, a skeleton, a bugbear zombie, and three troglodyte zombies. The party pretty easily rendered Filge unconscious and dying, but the zombies proved especially effective in harassing the party. The group stole away with Filge, but not before Belben was corned by all of the zombies. Bravely, Tarren ran back upstairs to his rescue followed by "Monkey Man" Lyrin. For a few moments things looked brighter, but Tarren attempted to quaff a potion, resulting in having his brains smashed out by an undead trog. Belben, who was staggered by a club blow, soon followed Tarren into the light as a zombie trog smashed his brains out as well.
The group succeeded in gathering the bones they believe belong to the Land family and also interrogated Filge. They discovered he was here on request of a man named Balabar Smenk, a wealthy man in Daggerford. Filge, an undead expert, was there to investigate some "unkillable" undead and some strange goings-on at the Ironeater Mines. Filge traded all his worldly possessions in exchange for his life. The party left him in the third floor of the observatory with his four zombie allies.
The party returned to Daggerford to bury the bodies of Tarren and Belben. With them, they had the wealth of Filge plus a strange vial containing a segmented green worm Filge claims came from a creature called a "spawn of Kyuss." Still reeling from the loss of their friends, the party must now take stock in the information at hand and find new allies to aid in their journeys.
Session 8August 17th, 2006
Player Notes:
- Balabar Smenk - Wealthy, into weirdness. Hired Filge the necromancer; portly human.
- Ebon Triad - Cult, has something to do with the 3 Gods of Death/Evil
- Worm is from a spawn of Kyuss.
- In the Ironeater mines there are supposedly Worms and unkillable zombies
- In the secret room of the Whispering Cairn -
- Scene A - Images are dark and twisted, a fire/spiderwolf is fighting Genies. The genies are bursting into balls of fire.
- Scene B - Image of Genies - Symbol found on the tomb in the lantern room reappears here. Knights are saluting genies.
- Scene C - 7 genies and a staff. The Most powerful genie takes the staff and it cracks into seven different pieces.
- Scene D - Genies are in battle. A drider with wolf heads is laying genies to waste. The powerful genie from C rams the staff into the drider and he burst into flames. The drider then kills the genie.
- In the upper area of the secret room -
- From the Knowledge Token
- The black sphere from the upper room is a Sphere of Annihilation, of Artifact level. Represents absolute nothingness. Whatever it touches is effected by a disintegrate spell.
- The Demon in the pictures is holding a talisman of Sphere - Control device for the sphere of annihilation.
- The Glyphs around the room are that of Kossuth a deity. The Knights name from the tomb is Zosiel. Party opens the grave in this room and finds horns, a headband, and a pewter box.
- From Yellowknife
- The Worm has probably come from a temple of Myrkul, possible beneath the mines. 20 years ago this was the temple for the current god of Death, he ruled from a castle in Waterdeep. Myrkul was slain there and Bhaal and Bane, other Gods, were also slain. Cyric, a human, gained the power of these three gods. He went mad and lost his power. Kelemvor became the new god of dead. Cyric regained power and became the god of murder. Bane also reappeared and took the place of god of tyrants and strife; this took away some or Cyric's power. Myrkul was last seen around Waterdeep and is possibly still alive.
- Legend of the 3 gods - There were normal adventurers, decided they wanted to be gods, disappeared one day, gained power and reappeared as gods.
- The magical potions from Filge are identified.
- Zosiel - Staff of the Seven Pieces. Called the Shattered Scepter of Calim.
- The pewter box contained the talisman of sphere the Ironeater mines are owned by Derwin Ironeater, who lives near the mines, the temple is thought to be around the southern hills of the mines. His rival is Smenk.
- The big while half-orc, Kullen, is dead with his head removed. Occurs in the middle of the day. Krismorel overhears one of Kullen's minions say "tell Smenk Kullen is dead"
- Rastophan tracks the party and delivers a message to come see Smenk
- Smenk's warehouse is a 2 story building, with catwalks all the way around, armed with crossbow guards. This area is a shipping hub. Kullen's head is found in his bed chambers.
- Smenk wants the party to go into the mines; he believes a cult is rising into power, the Ebon Triad. Believes there are experiments with undead going on. His supplies are being replaced. He was once friends of Derwin and has been in and out of the mines. However he had a falling out with Derwin. We cannot go into the mines by the front entrance without disguises. there are options to sneak into the mines, airshafts possibly. We are receiving 1500 gp up front and 3500 later if we drive out the cult. We will be accompanied by a miner, a smelly man who is helpful so far. To look like miners we have to take off our armor and weapons. They can be stored in a cart with a false bottom.
Session 9August 26th, 2006
Player Notes:
- Inside the Black Cathedral
- Temple of the Ebon Triad

- Bane's son Xvim's symbol was hand with glowing green eyes; when Bane "hatched" from Xvim, the hand closed to make a fist with green rays of light shining forthBane's new holy symbol
- Bhaal - No symbols, door leads to the caves
- Myrkul - Room with skull
- (Discussion with Tiefling Guard)
- "Our party is too late, the Overgod Stirs, 3 will become one, Bane is Risen and will consume the other two Gods. The Age of Worms is at hand"

Session 12September 14th, 2006
Session 13September 28th, 2006
- At the Black Cathedral -
- The Bane side of Temple is completely searched and empty for now. It is possible that a group was sent out for supplies and has not returned yet.
- The Myrkul Room turned out to be the Labyrinth - The Faceless One was in the Labyrinth at one point in time, A "clue message" from Grallak Kur is more than likely with the Faceless One.
- The Bhaal Door leads to a Cave - and possibly the cliffs mentioned in the journal
- Names we're not familar with
- Faceless One - (we know he's not Bane)
- Grallak Kur - (From the Underdark, his kin are few in number, believed to be the one that ciphered the scroll that we have )
Session 14October 5th, 2006
- Party searched the entire perimeter and the rooms for secret doors, taking a 20 on each square. The party eventually found a "temple-like" area. These rooms had green columns with swirling energy. Inside off the next room were 6 columns that had arms that attempted to grapple outsiders, there was also an altar in this room. The party fought an allip and several Acolytes of Myrkul. At the end of the encounter the walls had eyes that opened up and looked at the party.
Session 15October 19th, 2006
- The party continued to search in the area around the green columns and found several stone doors. The party fought the Faceless One along with his acolytes. The Faceless One ended up being a human wizard, and had the cipher for the blank scroll. The blank scroll reads as follows:
- The party also searched the other rooms and found a skeleton with writhing organs. Lyrin found a cauldron with a wax top, that he promptly broke, inside were more bubbling organs belonging to the skeleton.
Session 16October 26, 2006
- New Character Firsta Perrish is introduced
- Without a rogue to check the doors, the party moved out of the labyrinth and headed toward the caves of Bhaal. The party first encountered several Grimlocks; these creatures appear to have acute hearing, but no way to see. In the next room, a Grimlock Kennel Master and a Kreshar fought the party. At this point, the cave opened up into a larger area with a cliff nearby.
- After a pretty long fight took place, the party began to search the open room. Once approaching the cliff, arrows seemed to come out of nowhere and assault the party. At this point, for no reason what-so-ever, Firsta flew into the abyss and, as the party later found out, died. Knowing there was someone on the other side of the cavern, the party developed a plan to use a scroll of silence to enable them to be able to climb down a ladder to the bottom of the cliff and give them access to the other side of cavern where the arrows were coming from.
- While this plan sounded great, it didn't work out well. Valgen (with his -9 climb check) had the silence spell cast on him and proceeded to quickly fall to the bottom of the cavern, but due to some great rope work, didn't die. Because of the silence spell, Valgen didn't alert the possible Grimlocks on the other side, but left the rest of the party without their area of silence. Krismorel began to climb down the ladder toward Valgen, but because of the absence of silence, the Grimlock's were alerted and, with a critical hit, Krismorel died and hit the floor. At this point, Lyrin went back toward the front of the cavern opening and began to play with Krismorel's wolf. Valgen pillaged Krismorel and Firsta's bodies of their wealth. He then drank a potion of gaseous form and flew back to Lyrin and dismissed the gaseous form's effect.
Session 17November 9th, 2006

Session 18November 16th, 2006
Nothing noted.
Session 19November 30th, 2006
The party continued to move through the cave and ended up in Grallak Kur's keep. After a good battle, the party destroyed all the grimlocks and tied up Grallak. After a horrendous amount of questioning, the party never got much out of Grallak Kur. They did find out he had been down in the temple for the past 6 months, doesn't care much for the Faceless One (who is dead thanks to the party), and Grallak caved in the passageway to the Underdark because his associates kept trying to run away. The party also found out that the entire temple was part of Myrkul.
Somewhere in the mist of all this questioning, the Great Valgen with his mighty wits, got high on some 'shrooms that were cooking near where Grallak Kur had been in the room. As soon as Valgen took a whiff of these mushrooms, he felt a bit dumber but also saw a vision.
Valgen retold the party that he saw Avatars of Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul fighting off demons. They went through a portal to an "insect thing". When it opened up the three took some sort of energy from the insect contraption; the three grew large and the insect thing became smaller. Symbols appeared and black energy began to swirl around. Worms then came out of the ground and began to destroy the planet.
After having a bit of a "WTF??" moment the party decided to continue on, only after finishing one last bit with Grallak. He kept giggling and laughing about the party killing him, so Brutus did. Not thinking much about that, the party continued on out of the caves, and when they entered the elevator room they found a crazy six-armed being had smashed the elevator to bits and was itching for a fight. This "ebon aspect" put up a good fight and really knocked the party around, leaving Beardfist unconscious at one point. Brutus came through in the end, after chasing a few cure moderate potions, he finished the being with a bang as it exploded upon the final hit to meet it's demise.
The party then made its way back to Daggerford where it has been asked to visit Yellowknife and has a bit of shopping to do.
Session 20December 7th, 2006
Smenk ran like a bitch and has his house for sale and is no where to be seen.
- From Delfen "Yellowknife" Ondabar
- Lizard Marsh will be the next place to go.
- Next to the Lizard Marsh is Cromm's Hold - (Marzena, an old apprentice of Yellowknife is there)
- Yellowknife had sent a messenger to Cromm's Hold and that person never returned.
- About Valgen's Vision: "Creation Mythology" Could be about the quest for the individuals to become Gods. Worms are of importance, but there will be more to come about them. (Basically Yellowknife didn't give any good info about the worms)
- About Kyuss: Doesn't know much about him.
- Water from the pool is being analyzed.
At this point in the adventure the party packed up, bought horses and headed out for Cromm's Hold. When they got near they found that the keep was under siege. There were six campfires around the building. Lizardfolk were the ones attacking the keep.
The keep is between Waterdeep and the Lizard Marsh. The purpose of the keep is to control lizard raids around Waterdeep. It is said that if you go into the swamp you won't come out (possibly due to the freakin' black dragons in there.)
The party surveyed the lizard folk and were spotted by guards atop the keep who raised a red flag. The lizards saw this and attacked the party, but were laid to waste by a few fireballs.
The lizardfolk were found to be of the Redeye tribe. Redeye was a lizardfolk that was killed and came back as a lich.
Session 21December 28th, 2006
The party found out that Marzena and a few others had been taken back into the swamp by several lizardfolk. The guards at the keep had very little to aid the party but did send a messenger out to Yellowknife so he'd know what was going on. The party pressed on into the swamp. Due to the amount of ground to cover they had to make camp. After sometime had passed the party awoke due to the barking of Ativa, the gaurd dog. A big, ugly, poisonous spider had crept up on the party. While most were still on the ground in their PJ's the party began to fight off the spider. Valgen gave it his best, but drifted off into a deep sleep with the posion from the spider robbed him of all his strength. Brutus eventually slayed the beast with a critical hit.
The party pressed on into the marsh, towing Valgen along the way and were greeted by a group of ghouls and a ghast. This is where all hell broke loose. Half of the party became paralyzed from the ghouls and two members contracted Ghoul Fever. This led to Brutus' death. When everything looked like a TPK brewing, the new elf of the group fought off the ghouls long enough for Cam to break the paralysis and end the fight. The party rested and was able to get Valgen healthy enough to walk the next day.
The party pressed on, after burning their beloved Half-Orc, and made way to an area were Lizardfolk appeared to be patrolling. At this point the party covered it's tracks and headed back into the marsh a bit. With two members under disease the party awaits it's second wave of adventures, one of whom is hopefully going to be able to cure the diseased of the group.
Session 22January 4, 2007
- Hishka wants peace with Waterdeep Maybe something we can capitalize on after getting out of the Lizard Marsh.
- For our trouble we will receive an egg from the dragon, Ilthane. We need to determine what we should do with this egg, such as taking it back to Yellowknife, or selling it on the black market for lootz.
- Redeye was a follower of Talos the Destroyer. The party need to determine what Talos has to due with the Age of Worms, if anything.
Let us also remember that Theldrick's cyphered scroll stated "... send agents to the Lizard Marsh, to the west. I believe that we will find what we are looking for there, among the lizardfolk." - We need to determine if he was looking for the egg or something else. We may be able to question Hishka about the Ebon Triad and such.
Session 23January 11, 2007
- The short green worms that came out of the dragon egg were Kyuss worms. They have the ability to instantly latch on to other eggs and cause them to prematurely hatch into unborn Kyuss spawnlings. These worms do have more difficulty in taking over a grown individual however.
- After the lizardfolk eggs were saved, well all that could be saved, Hiska informed the party that this had happened the year before and they had lost their eggs to the worms.
- At the keep the party learned of the Kyuss-spawned mage in the basement. Interesting point here is that the mage-spawn has learned the ability to fling his Kyuss worms onto individuals and have them start going to work on that person. With these worms being more mature than the ones in the egg room they pose a very very real threat to the party. Grot nearly got to meet his maker because of an encounter with these worms.
- The party will have to devise a way to defeat the mage and his 2 minions without getting very close to them.
- When the party had gone to Daggerford, Yellowknife informed them of a mage in Waterdeep that might be of assistance: Dagsumn. But the party is advised to take care of the problem in the keep first.
Outstanding Questions:
- Does Ilthane have something to do with the Age of Worms as his egg was full of them?
- Was the dragon egg the object that Theldrick talked about in his cyphered scroll?
- What can be done about the 3 Kyuss spawns in the basement of the keep. Cam started getting the ball rolling on some good Cleric ideas. Only time will tell what will work to defeat the nasties from the keep.

- In first room encountered 3 mimics
- Not all doors are as they appear
- The catwalk entrance was unstable and broke away
- No doors past the catwalk, but there is a secret door and loot behind it
- 5 Cells - 1 dead man, 2 young men, and a elven woman
- The elven woman thinks we're guards
- The young men want to be released
- The key unlocks the cells
- Dead guy isn't really dead, we hear groans, heal him, and then he goes hysterical
- Open double door and find a water-logged room
- There are three solid sections connected by a small slick walkway, and underneath there is 5 feet of water with rusty weapons and bones going everywhere
- Party is attacked by "weird airy creatures" that we can't see - Invisible Stalkers
- Finally get to a stone room - There is a large chamber with a shaft leading down and a barrel floating in a pool of water.
Session 28March 15, 2007
- Party removed the barrel and nothing happened. We think there's a secret button or something to activate the water depth, but without a rogue all we can do is swim . . . .
- Water is salty and there is a passageway at the bottom
- Passage way gives out to a new room - we fight an octopus here and kill it.
- The new room is flooded as well as the barrel shaft was. It is 40 ft to the surface.
- We swim up and find a column, bridge way, and a door. The column has a switch on it. The party test out the switch and opens the door with the portable ram. 2 doppelgangers emerge and the party fights them to their death!
- The party then enters a long hallway with several doors.
- One goes to the pooper (which is empty), other is a mess hall (Lyrin torches this room and destroys any and all things that could be useful)
- The Mess hall had a secret door - which was a closet and had some cool cloaks
- On the opposite side of the hall Grot discovers the dirtiest trap he's ever seen. Several more people make it into the trap and finally they all get out and search the other rooms.
- The other rooms are all sleeping quarters and then one room that is different. It has a secret door and leads to a room full of polished mirrors.
Session 29March 22, 2007
- Note Found with Greater Doppelganger"I have a task for you, thrall. Meet me at the sewer junction beneath the Brian the Swordmaster's Smithy and I will give you the details. There are some troublesome small minds that must be removed."
Session 30March 29, 2007
- Party starts back in the Inn, some do a little shopping and then they set out for the Smithy - from the note found with Greater doppelganger.
- There is a manhole in front of the Smithy, but the streets are crowded and the party thinks better of this plan, and goes around back and finds a manhole is an alley that is out of sight.
- In the sewers the party suffers penalties to listen and scent due to the environment and there is no illumination.
- Before pressing on the party covers the manhole back up so that no one will know they're down there.
- The party starts heading toward the direction of the smithy and finds some wormlike creatures that don't play nice. They had just killed-a-man and were feasting. These advanced Carrian Crawlers are large, but went down without too much of a problem.
- Further into the sewer the party finds a bunch of really cool rats and one rat-man-person-guy. A fight breaks out and when the rat-man-person-guy is slain he turns back into a human form. The party ties him up and heals him back to consciousness. He doesn't know what's going on and looks like he's going to crap himself. He states that he was in bed and doesn't have a clue as to how he got into the sewer. His name is Twitch and he lives in Waterdeep in the Dockward. The party thinks that they've really scared him bad, so much so that they can't figure out if he's lying, telling the truth, or just plain petrified. The party lets the man go.
- When the drow were searched in Sodden Hold they had a glowy moss on them.
- This glowy moss appears in the sewer and the party follows it.
- The trail ends at a large natural cave. On the opposite side of the sewer is the symbol of the Doppelganger's that were seen in Sodden hold. The party finds 2 drow and kills them off quickly. The party starts into the cave where at 20ft it starts to bend and more glowy moss is spotted.
Session 31April 5, 2007
In the Caves:
- The Symbol opposite the cave - can only seen by darkvision
- A bit into the cave we run into some kind of moss - Not the same as on the drow boots. - Very dangerous - "Yellow Mold" - Spews bad stuff out
- Fire does take care of it.
- There were also 4 shriekers - another type of fungus that acts as an alarm
- Further down the cave the party runs into some water and a big human-snake (spirit naga)
- The water glows from fungus at the bottom
- The next room is a large opening with a ledge on one side, chicken cages, a door, and then another opening. Here the party fought a bunch of dirty drow.
Session 32April 12, 2007
- Party finally is able to rest and goes down the next hallway
- We run into an illusion - acid trap
- Next room is large - contained a drider - handprints on ceiling
- Rooms then are a - "brain room" - "well room" - " Mind flayer room"
- Greater doppelgangers name - Telakin
- Mind Flayer - Ilserv
- He was hired by Gast Brokengulf to kill the party
- The party went back to the inn and found a flyer about the upcoming games... with the host being the guy wanting to kill all of us, Prendergast Brokengulf!
Session 33April 19, 2007
Dagsumn's House
- Dagsumn called for us
- We must come up with a group name - "The Mercenaries"
- Dagsumn invites us in to talk about "the little green worms"
- Horns from the Fiend - nothing important about the Age of Worms
- Talisman of the Sphere - Currently inactive - but probably could control a sphere - we need to keep this
- Worm - from Kyuss - the creatures we fought we spawn of Kyuss - They spread rapidly - able to take over a city in a few days - however are the least powerful of the Kyuss warriors
- The cult of Kyuss - A group of individuals that live double lives (such as Prendergast) - they worked with the Ebon Triad
- The Age of Worms - talked about in the oldest books - "Dark Times", "Dark Age", all talked about as prophecies.
- Apostolic Scrolls - Very Wicked - bought by Prendergast. There are written by Kyuss himself. The scrolls describe a way to create large worms (possibly called ulgurstasta) that are capable of eating a creature and regurgitating undead (possibly as ghast)
Champions Games
- Auric - Champion last year
- Rules vary from year to year - are told at the feast
- We may be able to get some help from a team manager
- Thoril knows about the games -
- Crowd is very bloodthirsty
- When people surrender you must stop attacking them
- Anything that obsures the crowds view will turn them against that team
- Must be very careful about area effects - cannot harm crowd
- Cannot loot the enemies
Back at Dagsumn's House
- 2 extra seats are in the room - a male and female enter the room. The crest is from the family Phylund
- The woman is a bard named Celeste
- The man is Lord Urtos - He states that his team for the games bailed on him at the last minute and he's in need of a fighting group ASAP. Offers to split the winnings 50/50
- The tournament takes place over 5 days and the winners will have to fight 4 times. The best way to make money is by betting on the teams. - Max bet is 250gp
- Eol is named captain of the Mercenaries
The Games
- At the tournament the team is treated to a free - royal feast - Buffet style so no worries about poison. On stage is the current champ with his belt. The only other person with him is his wizard friend, the chick isn't found from before.
- Escorted with several bodyguards - Prendergast comes out with his wife (smokin' hot), his chief of security (Okoral), and an older guy - the judge of the games.
- The Judge - Talabir Welik - watches over the games and gives out the rules. He is the one in charge of disqualifying people.
- The Rules
- Can surrender at any time - must drop weapons, go to knees and have both hands up in the air
- Cannot surrender and then get up and attack
- Fly only to a height of 40 ft
- Cannot burrow
- No time limit
- Cannot loot bodies
- Cannot hurt spectators
- If disqualified must leave immediately and cannot return
- Awards after each battle

- 2nd - Silver trophy - 5,000 gp
- 3rd - Gold trophy - 10,000 gp
- 4th - Champion Belt - 20,000 gp
- Betting odds are from 1 to 9 based on estimated on how good everyone thinks the group will be
- 24 teams compete - Mercenaries are ranked 3rd to begin with
- Tiira (chick from Auric's group) comes to talk to us. She thinks we're the stuff and wants to bet on us in the games. If we put down 2,500 she says we'll get 7,500 at the end if we win it all. She is not competing with Auric's group in the games.
- Tiira is from Thoril's old Guild and may not be a strong truth teller.
- The day ends with a large fireworks display and the team is escorted to a large area with a place to camp.
Session 34April 26, 2007
- The party is called the "Merciful Mercenaries" as they let most people live.
- However, the group "Pitch Blade" killed all but one person in each team. They are made up of Dwarves.
- Prendergast is said to be a legendary fighter - took care of a big group of ghouls and sealed them in a cave and filled it with water.
- The party waits for their manager to hear about how things went . . . . In the meantime they find out some info about the other fighting groups:
- Favorites to win day 1 and 2 fights.
- Auric's Warband - fighter/wizard/golem group - "leatherworks" - Typically fight with four golems. They are very tough to kill and like to grapple casters. They take directions from the wizard. They don't take damage from spells that have spell resistance.
- The Unhumans - group of half-elves and half-orcs - are split 1/2 melee and 1/2 caster
- Draconic Brood - All decendents of dragons - humanoidish - 1 badass has wings and quite a bit of dragon in him
- Final Phoenix - 4 clerics and one fighter - good at bringing people back from the dead.
- The Skull of Murq - Pretty much unknown - Look very frail. Wear robes
From the Manager, Urtos Phylund II
- Has a confession to make - he has a hidden motive for getting into the games. His father was killed here two years ago in the beast cages. His father was a careful man and he suspects foul play. During this time the manager was lost in a hunting party where he was attacked by werewolves killing everyone but himself and turning him into a werewolf himself. His stepmom, Aridarye, took care of the arrangements from his fathers death, she is now the hot wife of Prendergast. To the managers dismay his fathers coffin has been removed from it's resting place. The manager tells us he will give us 100% of the winnings if we search for clues in the arena understructure while he goes up to the Prendergast's mansion to investigate Aridarye.
- The manager trusts Prendergast heavily and couldn't believe that he would have done anything to his dad; they were good friends. He suspects his stepmom of the foul play. Because of his werewolf issue her son is set to be the heir of his family fortune. The stepbrother is Urtos the Third and is only 8 years old.
Exploring
- The party searches one corridor and find the "Titan's House" - The party finds the cave that Prendergast fought off the ghast from and have a sweet little battle. Further down this cave there is a hallway filled with very, very old religious markings that lead into a pit filled with hundreds of ghasts.
- The party presses on and finds an open sewer room with 2 water openings, one from near the ceiling and the other close to the floor, with only 1 inch of air room. The party is attacked by ochre jellies which split when hit with a splicing weapon. A few fireballs later they go down.
- Valgen climbs through the crap shoot toward the ceiling and on the other side is a coffin...
Session 35May 1, 2007
- Stepmom - Aridarye - Suspect
- Sewer Room - Not 1 but 3 coffins - Very plain, there are empty sacks next to 1 coffin. 3 spawns of Kyuss appear with their wonderful green worms
- During the fight, our buddy Valgen rats out and scares the crap out of Grot. We learn that he is now a were-rat due to the bite from the half-rat from a few days ago. We also learn that Valgen has lots and lots of tiny green worms in his head. Too many, and too small to remove. (The party notices this and then pretty well disregards it.)
- In the coffin room the party is currently underneath the arena.
- Down from that room there is a hallway that splits (oh joy). The majority of the party goes one way, and Beardfist goes the other, which of course, leads to a room full of spawn that burst through a door. Out of his peripheral vision, Beardfist notices someone going into a room to the left as the spawn start to come out.
- The party fights the spawn in the hallway and heads into the next room. It is large and appears to have been used as a training roomthere are combat dummies lying around everywhere.
- Following on the footsteps of whomever from before, the party throws a test dummy to test for traps and then continues into the next room where the crap freaking hits the fan.
- There are 3 figures in the room, a Skeleton with a lashing long tongue, a Spawn of Kyuss, and a half-goat/half-dwarf Cleric. As soon as the party enters the room the Cleric summons a large praying mantis directly behind the party. Also seen in this room, basking the green glow of its awesomeness are the Apostolic Scrolls on the right side.
- A hearty battle ensues causing Aker to give up his life. The Cleric was a Tiefling Cleric and the Skeleton abomination a Mohrg.
- As the fight has ended, Grot gathers up Aker in his bag of holding (head included), and the party starts to approach the scrolls. Beardfist cast detect magic on the scrolls and is hit with a power so great that he falls to his knees (never sensing such magic in his life) then the room goes silent . . . .
Session 36May 10, 2007
- Next Room - Colossal Slug
- Stone Hallway - Pictographs of Worm Orgy, Worms coming out of skulls
- Into the next room - A cylinder in the middle of room with more Worm art and a chest.
- The tiefling cleric rises from the dead and attacks the party as a spawn of Kyuss. He is quite weak.
- Chest was trapped. The first time it went off Valgen had a worm burst from his chest. The second time it sucked Valgen into it. Grot then tried to save Valgen and got sucked in as well.
- Chest - had monogram of people getting attacked by giant worms. Now there is a picture of Valgen and Grot.
- Group takes the chest and heads back into the main sewer room. Eol tries to go the other direction, the one with only an inch of air to breathe. However this doesn't work as the airway goes away and eventually Eol has to come back.
- Crew goes back to the coenoby and leaves the chest in the Titan's House room.
- Six teams remain in the Games:
- Skull of Murq
- Fisthammers
- Draconic Brood
- Auric's Warband
- Pitch Blade
- The Merciful Mercenaries
- Team calls for their manager. Pay to switch out a player for the dead Aker, ask to see Dagsumn.
- With nothing else to do, it's not like there's two guys stuck in a box, the party goes to sleep.
- 4 hours into their rest the party hears terrible screams - Dream that Valgen and Grot are eaten by a giant worm.
- Eol sneaks out to take a look at the chest and sees a fat, happy worm where Valgen and Grot used to be.
- The group finishes resting and it greeted by Prendergast guards; they ask Eol to follow them.
- Eol comes back into the room from a short while and said that he met with Aridarye (and saw her boobies).
- She wants Prendergast to no longer be in existence, so she can take over. She knows that he hates us, and wants to know what all is going on. Says that she saw hate in his eyes when we were on the battlefield.
- She is going to allow us to leave the arena so we can gather more info for her. She also knew that our manager's (her stepson's) father was killed by an owlbear.
- Not long after guards come around pushing carts and start filling them with the belongings of the combatants that didn't win their fights. The group is sneaked out in these carts.
- The group is sent out a back door, but couldn't see where they went to get to it.
- In order to get back into the coenoby they group should come back to this door and knock 3 times.
At Dagsumn's House
- Phylund (the manager) is already there. He is very pissy that we were talking to his stepmommy.
- Dagsumn introduces Iapetus to the group.
- The party drops off the chest for Dagsumn to analyze. The party's worst fears are correct, their friends are gone for good, and this chest is very evil and must be destroyed.
Session 37May 17, 2007
Fight Brackets
- Auric's Warband vs Draconic Brood - Winner Auric's Warband
- Merciful Mercenaries vs Pitch Blade - Winner Merciful Mercenaries
- Fisthammers vs Skull of Murq - Winner ???
Pitch Blade - 4 Dwarves - "they purty good"
The dwarves appear to be very much spelled up. Ashkor is forced to surrender and gets killed for his trouble.
Pitch blade was the team but together by Captain Okoral (now we've made him pissed, a tradition that our group is starting to get very good at) .
Eol goes and talked to Aridarye. She is going to get us out of the coenoby to purchase potions and whatnot. She also tells us that we're not going to fight a team next week, but a giant frost salamander.
She also tells us that the best defense against the flesh golems is to stay out of their reach (fly) and to watch our backs!
Session 38May 24, 2007
- Skull of Murq won their match against the Fisthammers.
- Salamander is actually a froghemoth.

Session 39May 31, 2007
- Go to Daggerford.
- Yellowknife's crib is partly melted. It doesn't look the same.
- Guards stop us. Because of Lyrin we can get in.
- Horrific tale 2 days ago a dragon came to town. Was looking for Yellowknife, and beat down the town, killed people. Destroyed buildings, guards couldn't handle it. IT was spitting acid, destroyed the tower. The think the dragon was told that Yellowknife was at the whispering carn. It had headed up north.
- Yellowknife is no where to be seen, and hasn't been for some time.
- Group goes to the whispering carn the group hears the whisper yet again, but not a flying black dragon. Name is Dragotha (not the one from the marsh) and it appears right in front of the them to the side of the cave
- "you killed one of my spawn"
- Dragotha military leader of Kyuss, fairly obscure.
- We slap the dragon down
- Go into the cairn and can tell that a lot has happened, dirt has been hauled out as part of an excavation.
- Walls are scared and dented. At the end of the tunnel is a glossy black surface. This is the same place we wanted to dig out before.
- Pit throws a coin and it goes through. This looks like a portal. A link to another dimension or distance on the same world. See footprints going through
- Blurred form comes through. It doesn't look pretty, crazy shadow tongue.
- We try to talk to it in "devil language" and it says "return to the hells" "you can come through, but it's going to take the souls of your allies"
Session 40June 7, 2007
- From our sending to Yellowknife - " . . . . .nothing" - our message to him is blocked - could be magical interference
- The guard creature is probably a demon (he hates devils) from the Abyssal plane.
- Through some deliberation Lyrin kills the thing.
- Ashkor the dumb goes through the portal and seeing 6 smoking things with red eyes (they are belkers)
- The group continues on following boot prints
- Notice pictures depicting a great battle: Bald tall humans fighting flaming things (believed to be followers of Kossuth)
- The baldys are talking to some mechanical creatures and appear to create an alliance.
- There is a pic of a staff and of a seal. We believe this is an air and fire elemental war.
- This appears to have taken place far south of Daggerford.
- We determine that we are over 1000 ft. underground so the black thing was a teleport.
- "General Icosiol" - a good name to know
- We notice pics of an old race of Genies - the Djen
- Chandeliers in one room look a lot like the Talisman of the Sphere
- Desert of Calimshan - place of battle

- 3 others, they don't require light
- below Calimshan
- river leaves to the Underdark
- we think this guy is the marquee and the other two guys are undead
- He comes from Ravenstone, in the Underdark.
- Red water - some mineral deposits maybe that cause the color
- He's been here a week.
- He is a Marquis in Ravenstone a place very deep in the Underdark.
- Only met one spider, large, called Flycatcher, and many other things. (sounds like there was just one spider)
- Stole something from the spider, a seal, but he doesn't know what it is. It is a round stone, made out of crystal, 3 runes, this is what Icosiol is holding. Whenever the command word is spoken and it is touched it summons air elementals.
- Waves in his 2 buds, purple tongue things (mohrgs).
- We make a deal to take him to the surface.

- See this man, symbol of Jergal. Ebon Triad story - they were normal people first, went to Jergal and he gave up his mantel to the three so they could become gods. He is now the scribe to Kelemvor. - Rhork's temple fell; people think it is haunted
- The Tyrant has made clear that any association of the Ebon Triad is punishable by death.

- hear a whispering noise
- Aridarye makes it in; The temple is in ruins. The walls are all sagging, but it looks like there are no signs that people have been in there. She hears the same wind noise and can't tell but it seems like there is something like a hallway, possibly below the temple.

- next match is the pig wrestle.
- Taravin gets the pig pinned in 6 rounds. B'kruss - 7 rounds
- Do the jump again and Beardfist makes it.
- Do the pig tie and Taravin Wins.
- We won best out of 5.
- Rumor around is that Tarnheel wants to replace the priest of Bane. Didn't invite the current priest. Maybe he wants to do it, or wants to get Lashonna in the position. He is also building a new temple.

- They celebrate thanks with worms, green shaded, not Kyuss.
- worm is tasty. Fabler begins to talk again.

- Serve an 8 ft Cake - Ziggurat shaped with winged Tyrant
- Everyone applauds. It begins to slide - the cake is unbalanced and the figure
- slides off and the head slides off and lands in Eolas' lap.
- A hush falls over the crowd. The tyrant is super pissed. Somehow directed at Eolas. He is uber-pissed.
- Fabler jumps up and tries to make light of the situation. Everyone laughs and tries to ease the situation. Tyrant calms down a bit, but is oh so mad. Everyone eats cake.

- ::Journal::
- Dragotha is the herald of Kyuss, Rift Canyon,
- rder of Druids, nature priest - Order of the Storm
- Where is Balakarde? - He came to see her along time ago and she tried to stop him and hasn't seen him yet. He left to see the dracolich.
- It seems obvious that Dragotha is going to release Kyuss. We should go after Dragotha. 1st order. Find Dragotha's phylactery.
- Balakarde when to the wormcrawl fissure. She is obsessed with Dragotha, Kyuss, and Balakarde. She may know where info could be found. The order of the storm retreated to an island on the Sword Coast.(Tilagos). Said to be filled with 100's of years of secrets. There are complications - Library is not on the material plane. Ships cannot get to it. The island isn't on map, but people who need it can get to it. She thinks others may know this. There is a lot of competition about keeping secrets. Heskin is one of these dogs. Darl Quethos is a priest of Myrkul that Heskin is working with.
Session 57November 1, 2007
- She pulls out a piece of hair and asks if you would like to take a peek at Heskin?

- Group is going to wait till we think they are docked, teleport, and then try to sneak up on them.
- We telelport
- We are invisible, can tell that the boat has run into rocks, but is pretty much on the beach.
- About 50 feet off the beach is the storm, it is ok were we are
- On the beach there are dozens and dozens of shipwrecks.
- Up the beach there are massive stone walls (mazes or gates)
- Orcs are moving about on the beach - several dead on the water and in the boat. They are trying to gather wood - to repair the ship.
- We try to track the devil and such
- A number of footprints are heading off to the black walls - small (devil), Robe marks, Glass (from the heat man), and 2 sets of bird feat.
- We teleport up next to the walls, leaving the orcs behind. This goes into a maze - huge one.
- We go right - run into an opening. There were some marble statues that are now destroyed. Appear to be recently destroyed. Find traces of fresh blood. Looks like something may be underneath one of the statues. Find a bunch of blue crystals. Not like any we have seen before. This seems to be a natural material, but you've never heard of this growing before. It's not here accidentally.
- Come across a pool of water. A big black plant grows out of it. Sways in the wind.
- Recognize it as an octopus tree. Have spell like abilities. When they attack they do fear. Hard to kill.
- The group gets their fly on and tries to fly over the plant. - In its scummy water there are holes where something came out, or went in.
- See a red glow way, way down in the water.
- Looks like things went this direction and then came back to the plant.
- We come to the end of the maze and see the storm. A circular disc (decorate with runes) eyes are carved, with other eyes within.

Session 59November 15, 2007
- Continued following the path through the night. Come upon a keep.
- 6 Winged humanoid creatures, Gargoyles, circling overhead outside keep. Motion group to move toward them.
- Taravin inquires about Krathanos. The Gargoyles say he has been bound to Tilagos, and waits for some brave souls to free him. Within moments, "Krathanos the Conqueror" emerges from the keep, inquiring who disturbs his rest. Taravin attempts to bargain with Krathanos, who wants to be free, to attain his belt. However, Lyrin recognizes Krathanos from a story he once heard about a murderous menace. As such, we agree that we cannot set him free. Krathanos strikes up another deal, his belt for two members of the group-to be eaten.
- After some discussion, the group agrees to question one of the gargoyles about showing hostility toward Krathanos-if they would attack back or float without interaction. As Aridarye began casting private conversation so Krathanos would not hear, all the Gargoyles and Krathanos begin to attack the group.
- After a tough fight, Eolas strikes Krathanos dead. The gargoyles, apparently under the conqueror's spell, fly off.
- Morak transitioned effects from sword picked up from Krathanos to Eolas's re-made whole sword.

- Ashkor and Iap. Go invisible - do some recon - head to the rock spur - seems to be a cave or opening, and a path down the side - fog going into the cave
- Group thinks they might try to walk around the thorns to the cave
- Going is not easy - but make it to the cave
- This path has been cut out - not natural
- Cave is massive - gets hotter as you go in further - hear a faint sizzling, bubbling - Wall of heat - is a drop-off - crevasse - smoke and steam is coming from that, very, very hot
- Looks like it is natural - magma based stuff - doesn't look recent - probably an underground water source that is creating the steam -
- Cavern is 70 ft tall
- Iepatus and Ashkor run and jump across - find the nightmare - fight begins
- Ends pretty quickly - not long after Quethos and his boys appear

- 3 Giant factionsRiftlords, Rift Crawlers, Tiamikal Nul-Shada
- Aridarye slips a 1k to a giant and finds out:
- He has never seen the heartstone, but there is a vault area and to gain access we'd have to fight our way through and the vaults are locked, heartkeeper has key, the Rift Crawler leader (Charlgar) stole another key, Charlgar lives in the Undercity (where all the arrows came from before) The vault doesn't simply require a key, requires both key.
- We head to the Undercity - we make it to the ladder and are now in front of the Undercity - Broogle takes us to a house - More bugbears, they see Broogle and don't fire down upon us.
- Charlgar has fled to the pits, yesterday - we hope he still has the key - Broogle takes us there - Stairs go down - it's stinky - rusty - and isn't locked
- Grim knocks the door down -
- 3 pathways - stink gets worse - Adamantine bars drop - Grim breaks two - eventually find a switch, get everyone in and then reset the bars - then realize their are doors everywhere and go back to the other hallway - raise the bars and check the door - We Open it and -
- the stink is different, pretty bad - There are 2 dozen Trogeldites - They start to grab spears - They say Charlgar is down the hall - They are probably "handlers" - take care of big worm tentacle things - Rift Crawlers make poison out of them -
- Grim "opens" the locked door - there is a hill giant inside - He is ready for us - Fight insues - Grim loses his foot. We kill him - there is no key -
- Taravin checks the next door - It is sucky - Crazy green crawler worms (hundreds crawling all over the place) - Room is huge, you can't see the floor, just a "cage floor" - goes out 30 ft - Balcony up overhead -
Session 69February 7, 2008
- Party enters the Cage inside the Cavern w/slithering worms.
- Aridarye donates a copper piece to be used as a light; Lyrin lights it up. Aridarye drops it to the bottom of the cavern; looks to be about 110 ft. down.
- Lyrin summons 8 Large Elementals (Air) on the ground; commands them to look for the key.
- Elementals find a cave at the bottom; found no ring in the cavern; Lyrin sends them into the cave to continue search. They were gone for about 5 minutes. Then 5 return. They tell Lyrin the 3 others were destroyed by a massive worm inside the cave.
- Lyrin orders the remaining 5 to start attacking the worms around the party. He then asks one elemental to describe what happened to the other 3. It is explained that the massive worm simply smacked them into obliteration, sending them back to their home plane.
- Lyrin summons more elementals totaling 9 large, 3 huge, 1 greater. Within a few minutes all of the worms were destroyed. The party uses the elementals to carry them down to the cave.
- The worm emerges. The elementals swarm around it and begin attacking, but do next to nothing.
- After a valiant effort by the party, Lyrin lands the killing spell on the Kaiju Carrion Crawler, causing Cold Damage.
- Iaepetus casts locate object on the "nearest key." He is pointed directly in front of him, to the body of the worm. He and Taravin begin slicing it open. Within a few moments, the key to the vault is found. The remaining elementals carry the party back to the cage. Lyrin then dismisses them.
- The party heads off toward the vault. When they reach the Undercity, they notice it is fairly calm. The party heads back up to the UpperCity. It is fairly ravaged by the Dragons, but the Citadel, where the vault lies, remains.
- The group moves close to the bridge. Chuck is turned invisible by Aridarye. Iaepetus silences a copper coin. Chuck picks up the copper piece and grabs a potion of fly. He crosses the bridge and guzzles the potion. He flys up to the arrow slits. He takes note of what he sees and returns to the group, dropping the coin over the bridge, but remaining invisible. He informs the party of all he saw.
- The party moves across the bridge, to the doors that have been bashed in but remain blocked by a large beam from within. Aridarye activates her ring of telekinesis and lifts the beam. The party then moves inside and places the beam back in front of the door.
Session 70February 12, 2008
- We start in a hallway
- Find 2 secret doors, they are unlocked, one goes to a landing with a door and another landing.
- The other has two passage ways one toward the entrance one toward in the interior. The interior hallway goes to a ladder, which leads to a barracks on the top of the citadel, about half-way. It has been ransacked. There is a door that goes further into the citadel. The door goes outside to an open area, and there is a door across the way, back to the main portion of the citadel. There is a pit that appears to be a garbage shoot on this level. A blue dragon appears over the crushed barracks, blocking Chuck's exit to the ladder.
- Dragon notices Chuck trying to leave and gives a breathe of lightning. The other hallway goes outside to the bridge where we fought the dragons.
- On the other side. The landing goes to the Ballista, which is melted. The landing goes to another hallway, which goes off to the right. The hallway to the right has a door and then a trap door back in the ceiling, and another door. Hear creaking metal on the other side of the farthest door. Hear a big chain toward the other door in the middle of the hallway. We open the door and. .. . . .
- The room is a big huge dining room, with a giant and a chained 12th headed hydra. It is hungry. Grim layes into the hydra, hurts it pretty bad, and it regenerates a good bit of it's damage.
- Hydra gets killed, giant gets killed. Open one door and see the inside of a tower. Looks like a holding cell, and there is a ladder. See corpses, maybe fed to the hydra.
- Grim was not able to stop his frenzy and kills Lyrin.
- Climb up the ladder to the next level and there is a door on the 4th floor. The ladder continues up from there to a closed trap door (5th floor)
- Rest - get Lyrin back - cast discern location - it's in the chamber of the Heartkeeper, 5th floor, in the possession of the Heartkeeper - Cast find the path -

- Now we need to go to the vault of the Heart Stone - Cast discern location - find out that they go to the door to the vault of the dungeon level of the citadel of weeping dragons. Find the path and follow the arrow down.
- See a symbol of Bhaal in the dungeon. See a naked 6 armed snake woman - A type of demon, a warlord of the abyss. She smiles as we walk up
- We mess around for a while and then Aker goes into a hallway which leads to a large room, large door, and two zombie-mummy looking things. Stone double doors-covered in a human stuck in a trapezoid shape. Worms on the doors. Set in the center of each door is a key hole. On each side is a 17 ft giant, dark grey skins, and standing with their arms crossed, and black eyes. You can sense an aurora of menace around them.
- New room is a combination of bedroom/study. Far wall, cushions/ ruins/ books. Inside a large frost giant, holding a massive war mace. Grim walks right up to the dude.
- Syvarius sees a black widow on the ceiling
- Grim disappears from the room -
- Beardfist kills the spider
- The giant cast maze on his self.
- Grim comes back, and the party waits 10 minutes and the dude doesn't come back.
Session 72February 26, 2008
- Party rested and . . .
- We spell up before the fight
- The giant undead are - something . .. They have a fear aura - strong connection to the negative plane.
- Aridayre tries to telekinesis the key into the lock - one goes in, but doesn't turn - The other doesn't make it in the hole, tries again, makes it in the hole, but still doesn't turn.
- Translucent figure appears -
- Ask if he is Balakarde - says no where is Lyrin - appears next to Lyrin
- This is the boy from the Land family that was helped long ago. He unlocked a door for us some time ago.
- Big story line about Druids, the Kyuss. The next room has the phylactery in it no doubt. We need to destroy the phylactery. Need to know the ritual of opening.
- Lyrin goes into a trance. Lyrin gains info to the ritual to open the door
- Lyrin and Grim work on the doors - Grab the keys and they click - They gold shimmer goes away and we throw open the door, effortlessly.
- The ceiling is lost above is size - a ruby red box inside a dragon is in front of us. Echoes move through the chamber like dark secrets once hidden.
- Guards didn't look like they did anything -
- The ribs are pointed and it looks like something might make it close
- A dragon rolls in and breathes fire and then casts mind fog -
- Grim goes crazy - The party attacks the traveling giant/gnome along with the dragon
- Eolas delivers the final blow to the dragon. Grim is still flying out and crazy -
- Carn takes care of Grim, and grim goes to search the body of the dragon.
- Aridarye's telekinesis gets rid of the statue around the phylactery
- Eolas cast disintegrate on the phylactery.
- Gazzilfek leaves the blade barrier, tries to go after the phylactery, Carn takes care of teleporting with it, Gazzilfek turns out to be undead as his fake looks go away, he teleports
- Grim comes back. Lyrin destroys the phylactery and something appears to surge out of the place where the phylactery was and goes down the valley .
Session 73March 4, 2008
- Cymria shows up at the Tavern and buys us all a round
- We tell her everything. She says she'll setup a meeting.
- That evening we go to Twilight tower. Meet with Harpell. He asks us if there is anything we didn't tell her.
- Kyuss is currently an imprisoned god. He's still a deity, his priest can cast spells
- We cast discern location on Balakarde - get nothing, still no info on him,
- Several demons have attacked the city, but nothing has gotten through. Knows a few locations of other parts, but nothing that he can seek right now.
- The cult of Kyuss destroyed the Order of the Storm after the last Kyuss battle. Thus the "Last Resort", Tilagos island was created.
- We party for a night and Beardfist changes out his spells
- We cast sending so we can talk to Lashonna
- Sending "Defeated Trials of Tilagos. Need audience, time and place? About the phylactery, Dragotha, and Balakarde. We are currently in Longsaddle. Have questions about Ominous Fabler."
- Response "Phylactery destroyed. Dragotha vulnerable. Waste no time, before he constructs new one. Cannot meet, cult active and watching."
- Phylactery, doesn't take long to create a phylactery, Could be just a couple of days
- Discern location Dragotha: In the Writhing Sanctum, in the Wormcrawl Fissure, near Kongen-Thulnir.
- We teleport to the Wormcrawl Fissure.
- We appear on the floor of the fissure, and there is a thick mist going down (geographically)
- We start walking and Lyrin is getting a vision.
- Sees a misty gorge. There are vermin everywhere.
- See a massive towering worm, the ulgurstasta, many eyes, hazy, and it opens it's mouth and swallows Lyrin (but not really)
- See a stately man, his expression goes awry, as his flesh turns to worms, sounds like Balakarde
- Visions fade, and Lyrin feels a need to go a different path into gorge.
- We continue on to the arrow of follow the path. There is no sunlight coming down here.
- Goes on for several miles, we don't think Lyrin's pull is a magical thing.
- As we debate, "This is the last place you should have come, lover."
- We see Gazzilfek (all wormed up), a wormcaller (dark hands), Prendergast (jet black armor, shield, and a curved sword- eyes are burning green flame), and behind him is Filge (darn flames around his body)
- Aridarye loses her head
- WE NEED WANDS OF RESTORATION
- Chuck goes down, Iapetus goes down, Filge goes down, wormcaller goes down,
- and finally Prendergast dies - but not really - his soul is still there and he finally fades away
- Grim dies. What a fight, 4 characters died to 4 NPCs.
Session 74March 11, 2008
- We are going to head down Lyrin's path
- we travel 2 miles and come across a very large lake. see waterfalls, all coming out of the rocks.
- We need to cross the lake, and have a folding boat, but can't make it large enough for all of us, the water isn't deep enough. The lake is also to far away to make it with one fly.
- We decide to try and walk around it. The water rushing is now a river past the lake. We since an ambiance of evil all around us.
- Water probably gets narrow about half a mile downstream.
- Get to where the water is about 200 ft across.
- we fly to the far side of the river. Keep following "Lyrin's path"
- Travel for more hours, are now in a wedge, in the edge of the fissure, there is a cave, where the tug is pulling Lyrin
- there is no floor, it's an illusion. We shoot off a lit arrow, there is floor several feet down with 2 side tunnels, and the cavern still continues floorless.
- in between the two tunnels is a bit of abjuration magic, maybe an alarm or defensive effect
- Lyrin is going to fly via boots, the rest of us on wind walk. We continue down the cave.
- down the right side we see 6 centipedes - worm covered - down the left an eye and it targeted Mael, starts dispelling him, and doing damage, it had flashed and then fizzles away.
- Grim goes further down the hallway and catches another one of the eyes and loses his hide from undead, but doesn't lose the wind walk.
- the rest of the party, excpet Lyrin, makes it to the ground, and then Morak dismisses the wind walk -
- Lyrin doesn't run into the hallway, but rather cast on the centipedes.
- Massive black scorpion with 3 tails, worm covered, comes down the carvern with the majority of the party
- Grim falls under his charisma going to nothing, the scorpion grabs him up and takes off with Grim.
Session 75March 18, 2008
- The scorpion moves into an upper chamber, scurries down a corridor. There is one more scorpion in this room and a flying massive ulgurstasta. A lot of the party moves into the room where the ulgurstasta fires onto the party and the other scorpion grabs up Syvarius. Grim is carried down the corridor further, and Syvarius escapes the scorpion. Lyrin disintegrates the scorpion and starts on the ulgurstasta as does the rest of the party. Lyrin sunbursts the evolved ulgurstasta into oblivion.
- Party starts to track the 1st scorpion.
- The party find Grim, underneath a collapsed scorpion. He is revitalized. There are 7 chests, and 5 of the 7 have magical auras.
- Taravin opens number 5, and sees a small leather purse. He picks it up. As he picks up the bag there is a presence in the back of Taravin's mind. It is glimpses of a person going into the fissure, being captured by the spawn of Kyuss, and him in the massive cavern, flaming eyes of a dead red dragon, it laughs and licks the man. There is a woman, her eyes turn to worms, and she axes Balakarde. Lyrin's pull subsides. Taravin gives the bag to Lyrin, and he has the same vision.
- Lyrin opens the purse and finds 25 gp and an understanding of how this works. As long as there is a gold piece in this at night it turns into 25 in the morning. A fragment of Balakarde soul is attached to this purse. Feel another tug somewhere else.
- We open the rest of the treasure chest.
- Follow the path points - to the right
- Lyrin's pull points - to the left
- Party moves in the direction of the tug
- We leave the cavern and the tug is starting to pull us up into the clouds. We wind walk and 400 ft up see a plateau, see a dark tower far off in the distance. Possibly buried in the ground, looks like a huge claw coming out of the ground.
- As we approach this looks it is made out of smooth seamless stone, and we see stained glass depicting knights above two doors.
- It was raised by magic, and the walls are infused with power. It is fortified by magic. It is glowing with force. The doors are dark crystal and have some strong abjuration effect. There is a pull cord. Taravin rings the pull cord.
- Syvarius looks for traps, looks clean.
- We telekinesis the doorbell. Hear a terrible scream inside. Taravin checks to see if the door is locked. It indeed is. Taravin pulls the cord again, and another scream.
- The door clicks and opens. A beautiful exotic creature, fiery red hair, big wings, humanoid to her waist, and snake from there on. She is drinking from a chalice. She is not evil. "My, aren't we impatient?" She's not undead. No Holy symbols, she's wearing very little, lots of expensive looking jewelry. She spoke in Common. This thing is similar to a lillend, not sure why it's here. They are typically good - chaotic, they are known as musicians, arcanist, and sort of fairy courtish.
- We are seeking information, "information I have"
- We ask about Balakarde. "haven't seen him" We talk about the tug. She asks more.
- Lyrin and Ranulph go inside. The doors shut behind them. She takes them on a tour of the house. The rooms are filled with crazy, a bit disturbing artwork. You can sense power everywhere in this place. Lots of musical instruments. Following the tug there is a small statue. The statue is on a shelf and is covered in magic, looks just like the visions of Balakarde. We ask about, said she found it in the fissure a while back, its one of her more prized possessions. Lyrin asks if he can touch it. She wants to cast a spell on him so he can't run with it. She starts to sing and her magic is activated through song, Spellcraft shows it as being geas (strong magical compulsion). She lowers some protection on the statue and Lyrin touches the statue.
- Another vision: Balakarde is being dragged by Kyuss wormcallers and he is drug through a thing of worms. There is a room with green aura and there are strange ghost like creatures casting spells. There is a shifting feeling like being teleported and see Dragotha over you back in the cavern.
- They go back to the entry way and we discuss the statue.
- She wants us to make something.
- She wants something of equal value in return. Item worth $50,000 or a combination worth $120,000.
- There is a lich in the fissure, I'd like you to kill him, Thessalar. He lives in a castle not far from here
- I require service, I want one of you to become my personal servant for a year. She wants Baiter to serve her in 3 weeks.
- Thessalar - I've heard of him, he's a badass, been around for a longtime. Very powerful, conducts experiments, and the father of a Thessalmonster - snakey acid spitting creatures.
- Ranulph goes inside with the chica and we get ready to camp.
- We rest successfully. The door opens and Ranulph is grinning wide.
Session 76March 25, 2008
- We ask for proof that we killed the lich, what does she want? She wants the head or dust of the dead lich.
- We follow the map to the other lich lair, on the other side of the fissure, this is probably bad news for the amount of time we are taking.
- After several hours we run across a 2nd lake.
- The fortress of Thessalar is on the side of a cliff. We decide to use the folding boat.
- We get to wear we can see the ledge, way far off up the cliff.
- Some fly and others dimension door up to the ledge
- We come up next to the keep, 25 ft walls, double doors, big stone walls, and a tower with an opening to a walkway on the next level.
- Lyrin feels a tug into the keep
- Grim sets a grapple hook and Syvarius climbs up. He sees an empty courtyard, doors to the courtyard, a doorway with no doors (a shimmer), see a door that looks slightly ajar
- we find a pressure plate on one wall
- There is magic, everywhere in the courtyard, it is evocation, and lots other types of magic.
- We lower Syvarius down to check for traps
- He sets off the stasis - and a flash and there are 4 massive multi-headed creatures.
- Things look very very bad
- one of the things goes invis
- We kill one of them and the Lich joins us, another one of the multi-heads dies, leaving 1, the invis guy, and the Lich
- Ranulph kills the last multi-head
- Grim goes away to a maze
- The lich turns out to be an illusion and is dispelled. ....
- Taravin makes it back to the second floor room across the courtyard and hears whispers and detects evil.
- the remainder of the group goes through the door via dimension door and overshoots it.
- they go through a fake floor and land next to a big boiling vat of goo.
- the lich is hovering above
Session 77April 1, 2008
- Ranulph kills the lich
- The hydra is dismissed, the mazed guys come back, and the elf returns from stone.
- We cure and fix all the party members
- Search the crazy room with the fleshy stuff.
- The room is consecrated. But the junk coagulates into a Thessalmonster
- Nice big fight, and Eolas drops it.
- As it dies there is a white mist that rushes toward Eolas and he sees some images of Balakarde. His weapon gives him some sweet additions now.
- We go to work on breaking the enchantments on the books. There are 10 books, we dispel 4 of them.
- Taravin opens one of the books - They are spell books. The first is 0 level arcane spells from the entire book. The rest of the books are the other spell levels.
- We camp. And dispel the wards on the rest of the book.
- Party regroups and heads back to the snakelady via teleport.
- We ring the doorbell and show her the dust of Thessalar, and we make her a (natural 20) bow by Syvarius, We give her Stalker and she renders the deal complete.
- After grabbing the statue - the tug is now gone.
- We leave.
- We play around with the items and a chill runs through the air, it becomes hard to move, and then their is a feeling of warmth, and a figure appears, smiles and he moves his lips, but don't hear words. We do hear in him in our heads.
- We find out he is Balakarde, we mention Dragotha and he gets angry, he wants us to destroy the dragon and says he will help us - however he can, probably can lend us strength when we encounter Dragotha, Lashonna - he is concerned about her, calls her a bitch, She is Kyuss' 2nd below Dragotha, Harpell isn't a bad guy either that we know of, Lashonna sent Balakarde to kill Dragotha some time ago, She's certainly in with them. Balakarde has been in his Writhing Sanctum, Kyuss' deal should be in there, there are several doors of worms, and Balakarde made it into the temple.
- We ask him about the Age of Worms: Tell him about Waterdeep, a tri-partite spirit being rejoined.... aka Balakarde,
- We discuss many of the prophecies, and all had happened. We must destroy Kyuss, Dragotha, and possibly Lashonna. He doesn't know how to kill Kyuss.
- To destroy Dragotha: Go through temple full of worms, wormspawn, and priest. Most are not undead, most are alive. It is near here. He's been dead 20 years ago.
- Balakarde couldn't find any way to take care of Kyuss, because he was taken care of.
- Need Clerical magic to remove disease: the more powerful minions require less and less time to infect, some of the spawn are intelligent and one of them is Balakarde's sister.
- Maralee is Balakarde's sister, Dragotha had her kill Balakarde
- Dragotha didn't create his original Phylactory, he may not be able to create another.
- We destroy anything that was given to us from Lashonna.
- "Malchor Harpell is a good old friend."
- Balakarde's sister was killed some time ago, that's why he vowed to attempt to destroy Kyuss.
- Balakarde has had flashes of consciousness, different people we've run into, etc.
Session 78April 10, 2008
- Started the game in Longsaddle. Bought some stuff. Went to the tavern to arrange a meeting with Harpell. Waited for Twilight. Met with Harpell. Summoned Balakarde to "re-unite" him with Harpell.
- Discussed with Harpell the implications of Lashonna being a nasty bitch. As well as Dragotha being a wussy-probably surrounding himself with all kinds of allies.
- Morak attempted to discern location on Lashonna, but got nothing.
- After much discussion, the party decides to continue its plan of going after Dragotha and then dealing with Lashonna thereafter.
- Harpell teleports the group to a half-mile away from the castle. The party cautiously moves in toward the perceived direction of the castle, not encountering anything until reaching the entrance, meeting 4 chimeras (goat, lion, dragon) covered in worms.
- Quickly lay waste the the Kyuss Chimeras. Move in closer to the entrance. Party notices some tracks. More Kyuss Chimeras appear. Again take them out.
- Session over, with party standing outside the castle.
Session 79April 17, 2008
- Standing in front of the cave, entrance to the Writhing Sanctum, and there is a green glow.
- We press on
- The cave winds deeper and deeper. After 1 mile the camber opens up. The chamber is ovoid.
- The light in this room is thick green water from a waterfall. It looks like slime. The lakes beaches have millions of worms and they have a soothing hiss. There is a big set of green rock that forms a castle. There are super large worms around the castle (6), a moat, and a single bridge to massive stone doors.
- We are well over a mile underground.
- We teleport to the doors . . .
- The sound of the munching worms is much louder. There is a pair of doors, they look like stone and they ripple with worms moving through them, in the doors, like fluid.
- We call Balakarde. "Dragotha, we are about to meet again."
- We have him try to open the door - he can't open it, and can't go through it.
- Detect magic - there is strong abjuration magic. There is stronger evil, nothing particular too.
- we try to telekinesis the door - There is a hiss and… there is a big green worm behind us.
- The worm gobbles up Beardfist and the party goes to a fighting.
- Syvarius finishes the worm and it spits out the dwarf out on the bridge.
- The worm falls off and sprays slime everywhere - the flesh of the worm is sizzling off.
- After just a few seconds the worm is dissolved.
- We mess with the door some more and another worm . . . and another and another . . .
- Grim tries to destroy the door and gets covered with worms - another big worm appears
- The worms on Grim burrow inside.
- Grim gets knocked into the slime. Starts to dissolve, tries to fly out - runs out of movement -
- HEAL CURES WORMNESS
- Grim gets out, but loses most of his gear and continues to frenzy and fight worms.
- Lyrin works on the door via blade barrier.
- The blade barrier has created a hole in the door.
Session 80April 24, 2008
- Grim walks into the room and...
- The room has smooth stone floors, crazy niches in the walls, a green fountain of a worm covered humanoid. There are stairs leading down, and a door made of worms. There are 8 ornate stone pillars.
- We since overwhelming evil directly ahead.
- The statue looks like Kyuss. We feel an oppressive sense of evil. Divine casters have +2 mana to each spell
- There is magic coming from the niches on the walls - Very strong Conjuration Magic
- Down the stairs: another landing, worm door, and more stairs.
- Several Flashes around the room:
- Worm covered skeleton, greatsword, all armored except for 2 eye holes
- Blacksteel armor covers a feminine alive humanoid, very much silent
- Blacksteel armor covers a feminine alive humanoid, very much silent
- Full plate armor over tattered robes and green worms over a decayed body
- Sickly green steel around a Man, crazy eyes, imagery of worms on his armor, symbol of Kyuss around his neck.
- The worst aspects of worm, insect, and octopus, It is crazy ugly
- Fight ensues: We kick ass. We collect Lootz
- We examine the fountain, and it looks like the liquid is a watered down version of the stuff outside.
Session 81May 1, 2008
- Party needs to rest, badly, in an evil temple.
- Listen check: Hear worms, hear ooze from the fountain,
- We rest for a short while and - a shimmer and there are 6 of the crazy octopi worm things here
- They cast on us like crazy and we start to realize it was not real smart to camp in an evil temple.
- All of the party teleports out, except poor Grim. They teleport to the beginning of the bridge.
- Grim goes into a coma.
- The rest of the party is seeking a place to camp.
- They find a small cavern and hold up.
- Hours pass - there is a lot more activity around the fortress. Dark shapes, possibly dragons, chimeras. they seem to be looking for us or just doing more patrolling.
- PARTY HAS RESTED
- They spell up - and teleport down to the stair landing - Into the temple is dark, cannot see anything. There are two doors down the stair landing that have the worm business.
- The big room is empty at 60 ft.
- A blade barrier is put down on the 2 doors and walls. There are worms spraying out from the wall even. The worms fade away.
- After a few minutes the blade barrier has destroyed the door.
- The door to the right is a cavern, the one straight forward leads into a large room.
- Down the cavern hallway - it is a narrow cavern that quickly goes down a bend.
- The other door - Stony passage, dome of green light on the ceiling, to the west 5 windows looking over a cavern, There is a 5 foot wide hole with green mist near the windows. Over the top is a moving metal cage, that is empty. The walls are the same moving worm type. There are two exits, worm doors, one on the far side and one on the opposite.
Session 82May 6, 2008
- Inside the big room - looks like the cage is moving.
- Don't hear anything.
- Search the room - the walls have the worm-stone stuff. Looks like the worms are coming out of the walls.
- We search the cage more - The cage is made of green metal and is physically moving (the bars).

- Come back and find the path going through the green rain -
- Rain is very cold, can't be water. We turn to mist
- We get out of this room and are into a river room still following the path. There are paths on either side and the party goes from mist back to regular form. We are immediately greeted by 3 worms.
- A deep voice "So, Lashonna's patsies. You're too late, she's already taken Kyuss. Come, let me vent my frustration on you."
Session 85May 27, 2008
- As the last worm dies hear a scream " COME ON" - The ceiling shakes and worms start to fall from the building

- Hear a female voice spell-casting in the distance
- Cavern shacks again - "COME ON"
- We move up slightly and see a chamber open up - but there is magical darkness in front of it
- Ranulph is the first to come close to the chamber and he has the water sucked from his body - by another female casting voice.
- The chamber opens into a large Ziggurat - The green river runs down from the middle - On top of the ziggurat is the Undead body of Dragotha - on the side of the room is a blonde haired woman - green worms coming out of her skin - It is Aridarye

Session 86June 3, 2008
Session 87June 10, 2008
- After leaving Tempus' temple, party returns to city to continue to help the citizens.
- Enter battle with 6 Kyuss High-Knights. Kick their ass, though came near death themselves.
- Carried the surviving citizens back to Kelemvor's temple. Decided to seek out the evil energy powering throughout the city and head down below into the Sewers.
- Encounter a nasty green mist and some big frog-bodied nasty creature with Kyuss worms spewing from what should be a head. Ranulph goes in for an attack, misses, is attacked in return, and goes down from an intelligence drain. Taravin picks him up and the party heads to the sewer entrance. Taravin uses the key to blink them into the temple of Kelemvor.
- Mael realizes Ranulph is dead and raises him. Ranulph and Taravin discussed what they saw and were able to discern that the creature is from the Outer Planes, is abyssal and was turned into the creature we encountered-he is not naturally occurring.
Session 88June 17, 2008
- Group decides to try to wish the Big monster away by using a banishment spell. It is decided that one of the talismans of reluctant wishes is the best way to go.
- We get the wish, and head out to the sewer.
- The Abyss - filled with demons, all bad things, most are immune to electricity and poison. Resist fire, water, etc. Can summon, cast telepathy.
- In the sewer we see: It stinks, we see nothing. Party makes it further down the passage.
- We go much much further. See the same cloud as last time. Fight ensues:
- Through the fog - need a fort save: requires a 37 Fort or you throw up and get nauseated
- Taravin banishes the demon and its cloud. Ranulph is dead again. Raise him back again. Continue down the sewer and the sewer starts to get lower and lower in elevation at 10 ft. drops. We find a manhole and roll initiative. A mist comes through the wall. The mist has some vampire type ability to suck blood via a grapple. These are crimson death. Saedd takes one down, several go through the walls, one grapples Ranulph, and one goes into the manhole room.
- We dispatch of the vampires that are left.
- In the top of the manhole Saedd sees - appears to be a small room - The air is full of blood and decay. A door to the south. The party decides to surface. Go through a door, find a hallway - There is a bit of evil lingering.
- the next room - Trapezoidal room - 2 more doors, Statue of a worm creature on the right, 2 elaborate oil burners - cast 2 different shadows - Magic is coming from the statue - faint necromancy from underneath the statue.
- Statue is made of stone, the platform is marble. Taravin tries to knock it over, fails, Saedd succeeds and breaks an arm on the statue.
- The base goes under the ground and cannot be picked up. Taravin stands on it and starts to stomp - sounds hollow - we find an offering.
Session 89June 24, 2008
- Party moves through doors directly opposite entrance into room. Leads into hallway ending in a set of doors, which open to a large room. 40 ft high dome ceiling. Room, emanating a rasping sound, is decorated in stylized worms. The entrance is elevated above the rest of the room. The center of the platform is a pit. At the bottom of the pit are Kyuss worms, the source of the rasping noise.
- Party moves into room. The room begins to shake. The worms from within the pit shoot out and combine into a single worm. The pit from the other entrance's platform also explodes with Kyuss worms joining into one worm.
- Ranulph destroys the first worm. The party begins attacking the second worm, when another massive worm emerges from the first pit. Ranulph returns to attacking the newly imminent threat. Lyrin casts a blade barrier over the pit. The worm picks up Ranulph in his mouth. Mael casts freedom of movement on Ranulph, who then falls through the blade barrier and lands amidst the worms. He then begins climbing up the pit. Lyrin takes out the two worms, while Ranulph makes it out of the pit and heads toward the other entrance. Another worm rises out of the far pit. While the group lays waste to the new worm, Mael puts a larger blade barrier around the original pit and heals Ranulph, who charges the remaining worm and deals it a death blow.
- Beardfist opens the far door and peers down the hallway, ending in a silvery mirror wall. The party moves into the hallway and Lyrin realizes the wall is warded.
Session 90July 1, 2008
- Party regroups and activates the instant fortress to provide cover for a nights rest.
- The party makes it through 2 hours - but then an unseen guardian goes off.
- The two clerics, asleep, and Syvarius are in the third floor - a horned devil appears out of nowhere and attacks Beardfist. Beardfist dies.
- This is a horned devil, one of the worst. It is feared by all other devils.
- Saeed drops the devil to unconscious and Taravin pulls it into a prismatic wall, which kills it. The party then attempts to sleep.... again.
- The party sleeps successfully.
- As they head to the mirror the party turns to mist to attempt to wind walk under the mirror.
- We determined that the door is reflective, if cast upon.
- Behind it was a small room.
- The walls are wood paneled, the room is decorated, has a desk and four chairs. 12 caskets are on a ledge.
- Feel extremely strong evil.
- Everyone enters, regains normal form and . . . roll initiative.
- A nasty demon forms - Pit Fiend - Lord of Hell - Launches a fireball - Cast but no effect, and a second Horned Devil Appears
- Fight breaks out - We take both of them down and destruction the horn devil and
- We search the room and find:
- Each of he caskets had lots of gems - lots of stuff - and a major artifact - Vial of Baalphegor's Grace - Blood of a supermega devil - If you drink it, and don't die, and don't go crazy, then you can control devils, 3 generals and 12 lesser.
Session 91July 8, 2008
- Unlife Vortex - we've never heard of it
- Need to figure out what to do.
- we go back to the statue room and go through the doors that we passed a few weeks ago.
- Open the doors and....
- 30 ft high hallway, mosaics of green, design on the floor is a worm with figures of wormlike creatures. There is light arcing toward us. No Evil, No Minions. The whole room is glowing with magic. There are overlapping layers of many kinds of magic.
- Taravin walks out on the worm. Goes a bit and the light turns green and shoots green rays at him. Taravin feels nauseous and takes negative levels. Saedd goes out and pulls him back to the entrance.
- Tarvin gains some protection and follows Saedd out to the door on the other side of the hallway.
- Saedd opens the door so the rest of the party can dimensional travel into the next chamber:
- Lit by spherical lamps, this huge statuary workshop has a huge sculpture of a humanoid figure. There are tools everywhere, a vaulted ceiling, and some furniture.... and some creatures.
- Grey-bearded skeletal people with wands, heavily armored worm fighters. and a tall man with articulate metal armor, orange robes and green eyes.
- The rest of the team dimension doors into the room... wow...
- Fight starts - - - Goes on forever . . . Lyrin dies . . . fight goes on some more . . . . Lyrin gets brought back by Taravin . . . . Kills the last enemy and . . . . . we're not out of free action.
- In the opposite corner of the room we see a swirling something, possibly a vortex
Session 92July 22, 2008
- Last week went through 8 liches
- New Room - Sleek metal pillars, 70 ft high chamber, 30 ft wide platform with chains - can tell the platform raises. Ghostly bonfires on the floor - above the platform is whirling vortex.
- Moments later a nasty Avolakia creature floats in . . .
- and then 3 more . . . .
- The circle with the writing on it in the front room heals the avolakia, attempts to suck the life force out of us and has a blocking effect once you're in it.
- 3 of the avolakia go down. We investigate the mechanical arm while the other avolakia is behind a wall of dispel magic
- Taravin and Ranulph get caught behind a wall of stone. Eolas and Syvarius dimension door to the other side and leave Beardfist and Saedd behind.
- The rest of the party is trying to figure out the mechanical device and fight the last Avolakia
- Ranulph takes some negative levels and we find out that negative protection is needed to pass through the vortex
- Morak goes ethereal and takes out the last one.
- Saedd burst through the wall, Syvarius finds an exit, bonfires that don't give heat, 4 control panels at each of the arms, and it looks like it will take a long time to figure it out.
- Saedd looks at the machine and figures out that - a full round action, 4 people, there are several things that can be done to the vortex. You can deactivate it, reactivate it, summon undead from the negative energy plane, and overload it (what will happen . . . .).
- Group deactivates it.
- Vortex goes unstable, shrinks, and becomes a dot of glowing energy. Cold radiates from it.
Session 93July 29, 2008
- The group dismantles the machinery that was around the unlife vortex
- We follow the untraveled path into a new room with strange statues. - 3 doors off in the distance.
- The statues are being enchanted, but are magic items in progress.
- We search the room and find - nothing of interest other than the statues - but they have a latch - on all 27 of them.
- Saeed flips a switch and the thing opens up - it looks like the creature fought down in the sewers. Inside it looks like a holding device - potentially if you stay inside you would turn into one of the monsters.
- Saeed takes to busting up the statues.
- 1st door is locked but not trapped. 2nd door is not trapped, but the edges have been sort of bricked. 3rd door is locked, but not trapped.
- We bust down door 2 and there is another room. This one has a bunch of statues of dragons. They have evocation magic on them. A staircase goes into the darkness
- Part of the party goes up the stairway and then the brass dragons turn on us and blast us with breathe weapons. Everyone runs back down.
- We are 100 feet underground.
- We disable the trap. Go up the stairs - about 80 ft. See a stone tree trunk - 5 ft breech is the only way out.
- We climb up - and it looks like we're inside a tomb. There are 4 corpses on slabs. The gates and the walls have carvings of a skull on fire.
- Open the doors and step out into the Mintarn boneyard. There are trees and tombstones. Looking out we see the city and it looks like we've been underground for awhile. See buildings on fire, forms shuffling about, hear cries, silence, screams. The masses of people aren't out. The great spire still has the green energy pulsing. The negative energy is not there anymore.
- The name on the tomb is Flinderstone and the symbol is of Kelemvor
- Kelemvor is the god of the dead, and pretty new. He was a human, gained power from Cyric. Kelemvor was the first neutral justice god of the dead. His servant is Jergal, the scribe of the dead.
- Jergal created Kyuss, after giving his power up.
- The question is why did Jergal give up power?
- The strange thing is that the 4 gods that Jergal created are now back on earth in some form or fashion.
- Kyuss is the oldest. As soon as he came into existence - he was trapped in the monolith, possibly by Jergal.
- Group heads into the city to improve morale. We want to stop the burning buildings and kill some Kyuss minions.
- About 700 feet away we spot several Kyuss knights trying to take over a building.
- Party kills the Kyuss minions and rescues the people (18) in the building. Travel with them to the nearest temple.
- We ask about the family tomb - They were a wealthy family, nothing particular,
- Temple had sealed off the entrance.
Session 94August 5, 2008
- Party decides to continue boosting morale.
- see a new foe - Vampire Kyuss monk. Pale skin beauty. Red hair, very athletic, seems to have some sort of concealment, but not really. And not many hit points.
- We save 19 people and get some lootz.
- We spell up before the next one.
- The next fight has a few more foes: A vampire, Warlock, Archmage, Cardinal, and the crazy broodfiend.
- Saedd goes down in the first round. luckily cloak of the phoenix goes off.
- Beardfist goes down and doesn't have cloak of the phoenix
- Battle gets horrible. Team has to retreat back to the temple.
- Build back up for 4 hours and then teleport to get the sphere of annihilation.
- We appear in the tomb of horrors - in front of the demon face that looks like a tunnel.
- We take control of the sphere, put it in the hole, and then go back to the temple.
Session 95August 14, 2008
Nothing noted.
Session 96September 11, 2008
- Taravin drinks the Baalphegor's Grace . . . .
- Taravin smells something on fire . . .
- Taravin is able to still cast spells, has evil around him and in him, but is not evil himself
- Baalphegor was a big devil - Taravin saw a vision - The drink was this devil's blood.
- Taravin also feels connected to other beings
- We're ready to head to Kyuss
- WE HEAD OUT !!!!
- Going to the new spire - most of town in rumble. No sign of living creatures, still see spawns of kyuss every once in a while. The living are hiding out in the temples.
- There are swirling clouds overhead, the purple energy is gone, but there is a huge aurora of evil.
- We walk up to the building, spelling up as we go. There is a mural on the opposite wall - and rays come out of it and a creature begins to form.
- More rays start coming off the wall - a horn devil appears (9 hells elite force - immune to fire, poison, resist acid and cold)
- Another horn devil drops down.
- High Knight - Immune to Elec. and Cold.

- We go up the stairs. . .
- There is a large room. 30 ft high vault, canopy of lit candles and several creatures.
- 3 human looking creatures - clad in black leather, glowing bastard swords (purple energy) and over the alter is a silver dragon with 2 fangs that drop below the jaw
- There is a treausre chest behind the dragon.
- Fighting insues:
- Dragon goes displaced:
- Silver Dragons - Good Aligned, Spend most time in alternate forms, can walk on clouds, cold subtype, 2 breathe weapsons - cold and paralyze gas, immune to cold, acid, vulnerable to fire. Can control weather, wind, fog. She doesn't look right for a female dragon, something isn't right with the crazy fang business.
- Flamestrike on the dragon - has evasion (doesn't like fire or the divine energy)
- Angels not effected by fire
- Ranulph gets decapitated
- Saeed takes massive amounts of damage and has to withdraw
- The blessed angel taken over by harmon decapitates the dragon - CHRIS ADDS A Vampiric Silver Dragon - All of the crap clutters to the floor - Another angel goes down, and the other leaves
- We find a dress on the loot and determine that this was Lashonna
- Inside the treasury chest - A small pouch - several padded items. A 30 sec delight admixture. Hellwalker, Medic Scepter, look like chicken eggs - eggs of renewal - It restores either 110 hp or 110 mana!
Session 98October 30, 2008
- Lots has happened. Some day we will finish this thing ...
- Up one of the final floors we see a set of double doors - crawling with worms, same thing we saw getting in here.
- There are 8 Kyuss High-Knights and 1 female high-knight with a crazy multi-weapon on this floor. We hear a humming of power, and we feel a tug of power, and hear Balakarde scream as we find out that this is his sister.
- Now we do battle:
- The sister brings it: She drops Saedd in one full attack, and moves on to Ranulph
- A well placed sunburst from Lyrin drops one of the knights and blinds 2 more.
- Beardfist lays into the Knights with several mass heals.
- Eolas defeats the sister, an Advanced Kyuss High Knight and cleaves on to defeat another Kyuss high-knight.
- Brad drops 1 Kyuss high-knight, then another,
- Lyrin finishes off a knight,
- Eolas drops the blind knight,
- Brad drops another, and finally Syvarius finishes the last one.
- Saedd get's raised and party healed up.
Session 99November 6, 2008
- A decade passes as the group spells up for the fight.
- Tower starts to shake and hear a crackling noise. The door starts to swirl and the worms flow down the castle getting larger.
- The doors open and the clouds are green, lightning strikes everywhere, the clouds have formed green worms, swirling around. It's all horrible. The black monolith is the center of everything. Worms pouring out of the monolith and they are collecting into a pool, and 2 beams of light start to form a face.
- Roll Initiative.
- We start getting ready for Kyuss . . . .who is forming
- Ranulph drops the portable hole next to Lyrin
