Korak's Petrifaction (Alteration) Reversible | ||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Korak's Petrifaction is an improved version of the Flesh to Stone spell. With this spell, the caster can turn any living or once living object or creature to solid stone. Living creatures are allowed a saving throw vs. spells (not petrifaction) to avoid the effect. Non-intelligent living material (i.e. a tree or shrub) is not allowed a save. Material that was once living is not allowed a save unless it is possessed by (carried or worn) a living being. In this case, the creature must save vs. spells at a -2 penalty. For example, a leather pouch lying on the floor could be petrified without a save, but a suit of leather armor on a hobgoblin could only be petrified if the hobgoblin fails a saving throw. Please note that this spell will only turn living and once living items to stone. Thus, a knight in plate mail struck by this spell may be petrified, but his armor and weapons would not be. A thief in leather would be petrified as well as the leather armor he is wearing. The material component of this spell is a piece of the type of rock that the petrified item is to become. Some evil wizards use this spell to gain a large source of rare rocks that could aid in other magicks. When reversed, this spell will turn any petrified creature back into its living state. If used on a being petrified by Flesh to Stone, it will not affect armor and other non-living items, they will remain stone. The material component for the reverse of the spell is a drop of blood.
