Calculator: A graphing calculator is required for this course. Any graphing calculator except the TI-92 or TI-89 or equivalent will be sufficient. I will be using a TI-84 for demonstrations in class. A TI-82 and 83 are extremely similar to the 84. If you use another brand or a TI-85 or 86 please keep your manual with you.

Attendance: You are required to attend this class faithfully. If you do not attend it is doubtful that you will be successful. I do NOT excuse absences. Tardies can be as damaging as an absence. The student, whether present or absent, is responsible for all assignments, announcements and material covered in class. E-mail is helpful. Any student with 2 or fewer absences will receive 20 extra points on their final exam.

Tests: There will be 3, 100 point, hour tests (60%) and a comprehensive final exam worth 25% of your average. Missing an hour exam is a serious matter, and a make-up exam will be arranged only under the most extenuating circumstances provided the instructor is informed in advance.

Quizzes: Short quizzes over the previous homework assignments will be given frequently. NO MAKEUPS!!!!! will be given, however, you will be allowed to drop 2 quizzes. Your quiz average is 15% of your grade. Quizzes are not necessarily an indication of the depth of the material to be covered on the exams.

Grading:
90% - 100% - A
80% - 89.9% - B
70% - 79.9% - C
60% - 69.9% - D
below 60% - F

Math Lab: Tutors are available to assist you in the Math Lab (TCCW Rm. 125) between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday through Thursday, and between 8:30 A.M. and 2 P.M. Friday.
