There will be many quizzes. Some will be announced some not. Whenever the class seems to be a little empty there will be a pop quiz (to discourage absenteeism). When you miss a quiz you will have a zero on that quiz. However, you may make up a few missed quizzes if you notify me of your absenteeism at the earliest opportunity and initiate the make-up process. Reading assignments will be given frequently. Some of the quizzes will test your UNDERSTANDING of what you have read.

5. Homework Policy: Homework must be handed in by the announced deadline. Late homework will not be accepted (that is, will receive zero grade) except in special circumstances. There may be a penalty for late papers dependent on the seriousness of such circumstances.

6. Grading Policy: The overall grade has 4 components: Tests (50%), Quizzes (20%), Homework (15%), and a Final (15%). Let be your average test grade, your average homework grade, your average quiz grade and the result of your final, then your overall grade, , will be calculated from the following formula:
Your letter grade follows from your grade as indicated:

Letter Grade G
A           above 89
B           80 – 89
C           70 – 79
D           60 – 69
F           below 60
