Rhinos Game Summaries, Summer 2016

Game Number Record
Summary
1
1-0

The season looked to be in trouble. The Rhinos had 7 players leading up to game time. Then Sam Jones arrived with Ava Tuck. And we could play!

And play we did!

Paced by newcomers Alex Townsend (4 hits) and Harry Griffin (4 hits, 6 RBI), the Rhinos had a 23-hit, 20-run attack that overwhelmed the Best One. Creal Waddell and Sam Jones also added three hits apiece.

Final Score: Rhinos: 20; Best One: 6

2-0

The night cap was a different game. Younger team, quicker legs. The Rhinos could not put up the offensive numbers they did from the first game (in fact, their hitting was a bit offensive until later in the game...)

The Rhinos got up 6-0, then let Radford Exteriors back into the game. They tied it at 6 in the 5th inning. However, three runs over the last two innings and some good defense salted the game away.

Alex Townsend, Ben Simms, Rick Grieve, Mark Jones, and Kalu Njoku (who was 2-2) all had two hits in the game.

Final Score: Rhinos: 9; Radford Exterior: 6

3
3-0

For the first time in two years, the Rhinos are 3-0. This time, the attack is led by Tim Jones (4-4) and Shane Cameron (5-5). Shane and Creal Waddell also homered. The Rhinos held off a late-inning rally to seal the victory.

Final Score: Rhinos: 14; Lisa's 5th St. Diner: 11

4
3-1

The Rhinos meet up with reality when Springhill Pharmacy crashes through the door. It was close early, then the toll of playing a double-header caught up with the boys. Shane Cameron (3-3, 2HR) and Creal Waddell (2-3, HR) stayed hot. The rest of the team? Not so much.

Final Score: Rhinos: 7; Springhill Pharmacy: 20

5
3-2

The Rhinos could not field a team here. Too many rainouts to this point in the season led to too many guys out on vacation because the season was supposed to be concluded. Only the second forfeit in the history of the Rhinos.

Final Score: Rhinos: 0; Bye Week: 1

6
3-3

The Rhinos come back up against Radford Exteriors with a makeshift lineup. They do the best they can and keep extending the game until they ran out of innings. Cody Sullivan (4-4) comes alive at the plate, and Tim Jones (3-4) just keeps hitting. Rick Grieve provides the offensive punch with two triples.

Final Score: Rhinos: 8; Radford Exteriors: 19

7
3-4

The Rhinos do not think this game should count. This team should be playing up in Division I. They were goofing around most of the night and were nice, so the loss did not sting much, but, come on, they could have run ruled the Rhinos much sooner than they did.

Final Score: Rhinos: 10; Paradise: 22

8
4-4

Revenge is sweet. The Rhinos take it to Bye Week, who end up angry at the umpire.

Final Score: Rhinos: 15; Bye Week: 9
