Rhinos Game Summaries, Summer 2012

Game Number Record
Summary

The start of the season was not good for the Rhinos. No bats; some poor fielding; a lead-off loss.

Final Score: Rhinos: 3 Ice Cold Pitchers:

0-2

Game two was against Jones Builder, a Open I travel team. Why they play in an Open III league, I will never know. The Rhinos did go ahead in the first inning 5-3, but then the Jones guys started to play.

Final Score: Rhinos: 7 Jones Builders: 23

0-3

Back against Ice Cold Pitchers. This one went down to the wire. It ws tied going into the 7th inning. Pitchers got 3; Rhinos did not.

Final Score: Rhinos 9 Ice Cold Pitchers 12

This one hurt. Leading 10-0 after 2 innings, the Rhinos slowly let the Sunnyside guys back into the game and ended up losing in the 7th inning again.

Final Score: Rhinos 14 Sunnyside 17

1-4

Finally off the schneide! The Rhinos get down 0-3 then storm their way back to hold on to a 12-7 win. Pitcher Darryl Henley sealed the game by striking out the last batter. (OK, so the guy hit three fouls, but it still counts as a K).

Final Score: Rhinos: 12 D'Hagan Design: 7

2-4

The Rhinos were just happy to be playing with a win under their belt, but they made it even sweeter in the nightcap. They jumped out to a large lead, scoring 10 runs in the first two innings. Then, they let the Christian Guys back in the game. But, Left Fielder Jason Harbison, in his last game before vacation, made the final put out to seal the victory. Newcomer Logan Pemberton had a great game at the plate: 4-5, a triple, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

Final Score: Rhinos: 17 Christian Guys: 15

3-4

The Rhinos run into Shogun, a team with five ex-Rhinos: Jason Trombly, Damon Hall, Larry, Blevins, Mike Guire, and Lance Taylor. Fortunately for the Rhinos, only three were playing: Jason, Lance, and Damon. The Rhinos had hitting up and down the lineup, Wes McAdams had 5 RBI, while Creal Waddell and Rob Levesque each had 3. The Rhinos won going away.

Final Score: Rhinos 19 Shogun: 5

The nightcap was a different story. After an hour break, the Rhinos came back to play the Farm Boys. And were plowed under. Those guys could hit. BOOM!

Final Score: Rhinos: 9 Farm Boys: 24

9
4-5

In a rematch against D'Hagan Design, the Design boys could not muster enough players for a game, so they lost by forfeit.

Final Score: Rhinos: 1 D'Hagan Design: 0

10
4-6

Another rematch vs. the Christian Guys. And they brought a much different team for game two than they did in game one. This one hit the snot out of the ball. Three home runs at Lampkin. Boy, I wish the Rhinos could do that! The best we got was eking a run out from Ben Simms and one from Karl Case.

Final Score: Rhinos: 2 Christ Fellowship: 22

5-6

This back and forth game against Pro Security ended up going the Rhinos' way. They squeezed out just enough runs and held off a tricky situation in the seventh.

Final Score: Rhinos: 15 Pro Security: 13

5-7

In this game agains the former Wendy's team, the Rhinos held their own, and actually led--for half an inning. Then, Springhill Pharmacy seemed to come alive. The Rhinos went from leading by four to being run-ruled all in a single at-bat.

Final Score: Rhinos: 12 Springhill Pharmacy: 24

5-8

First round of the playoffs. Rhinos get the 6th seed. Not too shabby, if you ask me.

Unfortunately, that means they have to play the #3 seed: Farm Boys. The game is close; the difference is two grand slam HRs that FBs hit.

Final Score: Rhinos: 10 Farm Boys: 17
