For Friday, June 23, 2006

1) Go to 'The WebQuest Page' site by Bernie Dodge (http://webquest.sdsu.edu/). Find out from the originator of the Webquest what it's all about. Be prepared to share what you find out in the Discussion Board 'forum' on Webquests.

2) Did you know there all hundreds of sound files on your P.C.? Search your computer for *.wav sound files. Here is a sample: porkypig.wav. Select five short ones and place them in your journal on the your 'My Sounds' slide. (You can find more on the Web at the Microsoft Office download page [http://office.microsoft.com/clipart/default.aspx?lc=en-us].) Notice that under 'Search' you can choose 'sounds'.

3) Record your own voice on to your computer. Some laptops have a built-in microphone. If you purchase one, you need buy the very cheapest; it will work fine. If you record on a laptop, the results will be better if you unplug it and record while on battery power. Go to Windows' Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder. Double click on your sound icon in the system tray at the bottom of the computer screen. Instead of bringing up the volume control, which happens with a single click, you will bring up an entire dialogue box. The record volume must be sufficiently high. The recording you make will take the form of a WAV file. Save it with whatever name you choose in your MLNG420 folder on your hard drive. Then paste it in you journal on the your 'My Sounds' slide.

As you know from reading about PowerPoint or from experience, one can record directly into PowerPoint on a slide or over several slides or througout a presentation as narration. Here is a PowerPoint on telling time, supported by wav files I recorded.

4) Participate in the Blackboard Discussion Board topic: What kind of Webquest might you develop for students interested in visiting or studying in a Spanish speaking country?

5) Enter and edit Journal data for Thursday., June 22. Place the Journal in the digital dropbox. And do no more to it until I send it back to you.
