| The
logo design is based on the product integral
(Volterra, 1887) which
is the limit of the product of infinitesimal increments (1 +
X(ds))
over some interval [0,t], and X(s) is a right continuous
stochastic
process with left-hand limits (cadlag). The product integral
can be
thought of as the continuous counterpart of the product (pi) symbol. In
survival analysis, the survival function S(t) can be
expressed as the
product integral with respect to the process X(ds)= -h(s) , where h(s)
is the
hazard function. The legs of the product integral are joined to form a
"W" for WestCalc. The two colors represent the
synergy of mathematics
and computing analogous to the property of the product integral being
decomposable into the continous part and the collection of jump
points. |
