Admission Requirements

Admission to the Graduate Program at Western Kentucky University is required. The application form is available online at http://www.wku.edu/graduate. For purposes of accurately completing the online form, please note that the eMath Master of Arts program is referenced as 049 Mathematics.

In addition to admission to the Graduate Program, the following prerequisites must be met:

(1) A GAP score of 3000 (Note that the GAP score is the sum of the GRE Verbal & Quantitative scores multiplied by the overall undergraduate grade point average.);
(2) Secondary teacher certification; and
(3) Either a bachelors degree in mathematics OR completion of the following undergraduate mathematics courses:

(a) a calculus sequence through multivariable calculus;
(b) linear algebra;
(c) discrete mathematics;
(d) probability or calculus-based statistics;
(e) abstract algebra; and
(f) geometry

Applicants without a bachelors degree in mathematics may be admitted with at most one deficiency in the undergraduate courses listed in (3) above and will have to complete the deficiency in addition to program requirements.

Once admitted to the eMath program, you will be assigned to a graduate advisor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science who will help you fill out a curriculum contract form, outlining the required courses needed to complete the program.
