COMM 400: Special Topics: Communication and Ecotourism (3 hours)
This course provides students the opportunity to study tourism in a communication studies context. Costa Rica is a premier example within the eco-tourism industry. Students define ecotourism and sustainable development while they explore how these concepts are practiced and sustained in Costa Rica. Students study tourism within a context of communication studies analyzing a range of spoken, written, and visual texts. Students apply this perspective as they analyze such texts within the tourist industry of Costa Rica.

The program fee is the same if you take one or two courses. A student cannot take more than two three-credit hour courses. All course credit will be issued by Western Kentucky University. The WKU Registrar will transfer your grades to your home institution approximately six weeks after the completion of the program. Course offerings are subject to change according to enrollment.
