CPA exam changes effective Jan. 1, 2011

The CPA Exam in CBT-e format (Computer Based Testing-evolution) began in January 2011  and includes these changes to the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) section of the CPA Exam:

  • No written communications questions.
  • Long simulations replaced with shorter task-based simulations and a research task format will be introduced.
  • New weights for scoring:
    • FAR will have 60% MCQs (multiple choice questions) and 40% TBS (Task-Based Simulations).
    • MCQs reduced by 10% to 60% of your score.
    • The weight for TBS doubled to 40% of your score.
