OCTODONTIDAE

The Octodontidae is a family of New World rodents (Suborder Hystricomorpha)
consisting of a total of eight genera with thirteen living species. One form,
Octodon pacificus, is known only from Isla Mocha, off the coast of Chile at
about 38 degrees south.
