Malvina Reynolds: Song Lyrics and Poems

Untitled

Notes: by Malvina Reynolds; previously unpublished.

They bring the feral into the churches
To be civilized with songs
And with words of justice and mercy.
But the people are hungry
And those that hunger for the blood of their fellows
Are not appeased.
Only the lambs are made meek,
And learn to welcome, as brothers in the church,
Those that fence in against them their natural fields,
And those that feed on their flesh,
As elders.
