Malvina Reynolds: Song Lyrics and Poems

Rain Song

Notes: words and music by Malvina Reynolds; copyright 1977 Schroder Music Company, renewed 2005.

Blow a little rain my way,
Jupiter Pluvius. Queen of the May,
Or anybody else that runs the clouds
And makes them move or stay,
Blow a little rain, Yea.

The fields are cracking the gullies are dry,
Nothing but blue in the daytime sky,
Nothing but hot wind blowing through town,
Rain, pour down.

If the thunder clouds come by and drop their load,
I'll go out and stand in the road
Till I'm soaked to the skin
And I'll dance in the mud and sing.

Blow a little rain my way,
Jupiter Pluvius. Queen of the May,
Or anybody else that runs the clouds
And makes them move or stay,
Blow a little rain, Yea.

The fields are cracking, the gullies are dry,
Nothing but blue in the daytime sky,
Nothing but hot wind blowing through town,
Rain, pour down.
