Coffee House Massacre, Hero of the People Slain!

(IIN) — More shocking violence rocked the city of Bogota this morning when Congressman Enrique Gonzales was assassinated at the Latte Mi Corazon coffee house downtown.

Witnesses at the coffee house say two men wearing Los Matan Gigantes clothing, a dwarf and a troll, waited for the Congressman and his bodyguards to arrive. The troll threw a grenade and dashed out of a broken window. The dwarf used magic to summon flames and engulf half of the building in fire. Congressman Gonzales and most of his entourage were caught in the blast, along with the attacking troll and businessman Julio Flores. Gunfire was exchanged, including shots from a third assailant in a van out front.

Authorities say two flash-bang grenades were detonated, one of which had landed in the street. The outside grenade caused some panic but no injury. Firefighters arrived on the scene in minutes and got the blaze under control. Three civilian witnesses were taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Two ork bodyguards for Congressman Gonzales, Roberto Vega and Juan Gomez, and the Congressman himself were pronounced dead on the scene. A third ork bodyguard, Jesus Ortiz, and Congressman Gonzales' assistant, Esmeralda Guerrero, were rushed to a local hospital and reported in critical condition.

Since the attack, rioters have taken to the streets. Leaders of the Los Matan Gigantes organization have made a public statement denouncing the attack and blaming the Aztlan government. They have offered a 250,000 nuyen reward for the capture of the attackers. The general public seems to have sided with Los Matan Gigantes in blaming Aztlan, and protestors all over the city are demanding the "oppressors" leave Bogota.

Video stills of the attackers taken from recording units in the bodyguards' cybereyes have been distributed around the city. The dwarf and troll are well documented, but no cameras got a view of the getaway van driver. An outside camera recorded the escape, but the driver was too obscured. The van, along with the weapons used in the assault, was found burned about a mile outside the city. Local hospitals and clinics have been alerted that both the troll and dwarf appear in the videos to have suffered gunshot wounds and burns from the conflagration.

Contacts with the Aztlan government deny any involvement but have not made a public statement yet.

Congressman Enrique Gonzales was famous in the city for being the one of the few surviving Congressmen after the accidental bombing of the Capitolio Nacional building in 2071. He was infamous for publicly accusing Aztechnology of intentionally killing the Bogota congress and had gained much support in the city.
