Arrest Made in Lethal Renraku Raid

(IIN) — Dr. Jack Harkens has been arrested in connection with a series of murders at a Renraku warehouse in Snohomish. Dr. Harkens was detained by Knight Errant officers working with Renraku Red Samurai investigators. He was arrested at approximately 4:15 a.m. this morning and was caught in the act of desecrating the body of Angela Vries, a Renraku security employee.

"Dr. Harkens took possession of the body at around 2:00 a.m. and was in the process of removing cyber-implants from the corpse and carving up the body for organlegging," says Detective Jean Claude Seagal of Knight Errant. "We were able to trace the body from the Snohomish warehouse via an implanted Renraku RFID tag. Working with Red Samurai, we were able to locate the body quickly and make the arrest," he continues.

The Renraku warehouse was assaulted at around 1:00 a.m. by armed assailants. Five Renraku security officers were ruthlessly murdered on the scene by assault rifles, arrows, and swords. It is believed the target of the attack was a prototype cyberimplant held at the facility; however, the kidnapping and murder of Angela Vries could have been the main goal. Investigators are unsure at this time.

There are no witnesses to the attack itself; the security cameras were put into a crude loop and there were no survivors of the attack. KE has released a warrant for the arrest of Takehiko Sasaki, identified by Dr. Harkens as the man who delivered him the body.

Detective Seagal states, "Mr. Sasaki is described in his SIN record as a Japanese male in his early thirties standing approximately 5'10" and weighing around 200 lbs. Dr. Harkens described three other accomplices unknown by name. An African-American dwarf was indicated the driver of a white GMC Bulldog Step-Van. Another man was described as a troll who looked similar to a blonde Elvis Presley. A fourth man, human or elf by stature, also resembled Elvis, with the correct hair coloration. If anyone has information regarding any of these individuals, please contact the KE tip hotline at commcode GTA-CLUE."

Dr. Harkens claims Mrs. Vries was dead when she arrived at his facility. She suffered massive trauma from gunshot wounds believed to have been inflicted in the warehouse parking lot.

Detective Seagal made the statement, "Mrs. Vries was shot in the back with explosive assault rifle ammunition from around 20 meters away. If she did not die from the injuries immediately, the bloodloss would likely have killed her before arriving at Dr. Harkens'. Log records of the RFID tag show it took about 25 minutes to get from the warehouse to Dr. Harkens' facility. Gun-shot residue on her hands show that Mrs. Vries did have opportunity to fire some rounds at her assailants before being gunned down. The theory is she was running for her car in the parking lot when murdered, and her car is missing."

Angela Vries was a second year student at the University of Washington working toward a CyberDefense degree. She worked the night shifts for Renraku for the past 11 months. She is survived by her husband Jack and their two-year old daughter, Allison. The names of the other victims have not yet been released.

"It is a sad state of affairs, but some of the city's most despicable criminals routinely extract cyberware implants from victims for resale on the Black Market. There is a futher underground market for illegally obtained organs. With the injuries sustained by Mrs. Vries, it is more likely that her body was being processed for sale to one of the many ghoul organizations in the city. That is an unfortunate by-product of so many unregistered Kreiger-strain-infected transiants living within our borders," clarifies Detective Seagal.
