Eternian Beastman

Powerful, violent, and bestial, the Eternian beastmen are goblin-kin at home in the deep dark forests and jungles. They raid from within alongside war trained beasts and fearsome mounts and then disappear back into the seemingly impenetrable depths. They value strength and bravery in battle, and often make use of dark magic to turn their deadly terrain into weapons against others.

Physical Description: Eternian beastmen have a gorilla-like appearance with broad shoulders and are covered in fur that ranges from bright orange to tan brown. The skin around the face is often tan to white with blue around the eyes. Their ears are pointed like those of elves, and their maws are filled with sharp teeth including two lower tusks that protrude from the mouth. Although stockier than humans, Eternian beastmen are surprisingly agile and nimble.

Society: The Eternian beastmen live more in harmony with nature than most goblinoids, but they are prone to violence to one another and other intelligent beings. They prize might as well as cunning, with the beastman exhibiting the most might and ferocity often leading the tribe. Eternian beastmen value magic but often do not fully understand it. Eternian beastmen who gain some measure of magical ability often rise to prominent roles due to the fear and superstition of the rest of the tribe.

Relations: Eternian beastmen rarely co-exist well with humans, elves, halflings, and dwarves. They often form alliances with other goblinoid tribes and with giants. Eternian beastmen get along best with animals and often incorporate numerous species into various roles in the tribe as mounts, guardians, and companions. Beastmen tribes often include apes, dinosaurs, and predatory mammals like great cats. Occasionally, bugbears and hobgoblins are found living among Eternian beastmen. They find goblins annoying, however, and rarely tolerate their smaller brethren for long.

Alignment and Religion: Eternian beastmen are often chaotic and tend toward neutrality, but those who are not neutral are more frequently evil than good. Eternian beastmen often include numerous druids, shamans, and adepts in their midst who shape their spiritual beliefs, which are usually unique per tribe. Powerful warlike gods sometimes gain converts among them as well.

Adventurers: With their outdoor natures, Eternian beastmen are attracted to classes making good use of those talents, such as ranger, druid, cavalier, hunter, and shaman. Barbarians and slayers outnumber fighters. Bards are almost unknown, but skalds are well respected. Sorcerers and bloodragers are far more common than wizards, magi, or witches. Due to their great agility, more than a few Eternian beastmen have found success as rogues.
