Centurian Drow

Approximately 300 years ago, during the First Unhuman Wars, a large drow fleet engaged in battle with the Elven Imperial Navy in Pirtelspace. The battle went poorly for the drow, but their admiral was unwilling that their ships and helms fall into the hands of the Elven Armada. So, she ordered all the remaining ship crash into the darkside of the frozen planet, Century. Most of the drow perished either in the crash or the days follow. Some few, however, survived and adapted.

The elves build a fortress, Darkwatch, on an asteroid moon orbiting Century to pick off any drow ships that might be repaired and attempt to escape. Trapped on a frozen hellscape prison planet the drow carved out a new life for themselves. They discovered human barbarian lived on the "light side" of the planet, and the two races went into an unending war. On the "dark side", the drow had no spiders and were no longer exposed to the Faerzress underdark radiation. They encountered small tribes of frost giants and eventually replaced the worship of demonic Lolth with the demon god of the giants, Kostchtchie.

The Centurian drow, called frost elves by the humans of Century, lost some of their well-known drow abilities but became experts in surviving in ice and snow. Although dark skinned, the hue is more in shades of deep or medium gray instead of black, and their eyes are often shockingly bright blue. They live in fortresses carved from ice and survive by growing huge amounts of mosses, lichens, and fungus.

Subrace of: Drow

Physical Description: Fair featured and slight of build like other drow but with skin that ranges in shades of grays instead of truly black. Mostly their eyes are very bright blue but can range into greens and purples.

Society: Survival on Century is brutal, and much of the intricacies of drow society is lost among this group. They are hard-working and tend to develop few close relationships; people die so frequently. Often their society is one of might equals right.

Relations: Centurian drow consider themselves drow but are often viewed with disdain by other drow, especially those loyal to Lolth. They have at least a dislike if not hatred for elves for keeping them trapped on Century (although over the years, some have found ways off world). Most have been at war with the human barbarians of their world, although there are some who have learned some of the ways of human captives and are less militant against them. They tend to cooperate well with the frost giants of their world.

Alignment and Religion: Centurian drow are predominately chaotic evil with some trending toward neutral in either axis. For the most part, they have replaced Lolth with the worship of Kostchtchie, and as such males have replaced females as the dominant, and opporessive, gender. There are rumors of hidden cults of Lolth, and a few have adopted the religion of the human barbarians, the Path and the Way.

Adventurers: Centurian drow still retain many of the fighting styles of their ancestors, but they are now strongly influenced by the weaponry they have acquired from the humans over the years. The humans are Shou descendants, so their weapons are strongly Asian in design. Arcane magic is prized but somewhat less common than divine simply due to the lack of libraries and deep arcane knowledge on the planet. Everything was brought with the drow and either passed from generation to generation or learned anew. There is no history to discover and learn here. Rangers and rogues are common, and martial arts learned from captive humans has spread incredibly, making for a growing number of martial fighters and even monks.
