 Special Attacks/Qualities:
Call Special Mount (Sp): 1/day—As a full round action, the paladin calls forth his mount from its celestial home. The mount immediately appears adjacent to the paladin and remains for 2 hours per paladin level; it may be dismissed at any time as a free action. The mount is the same creature each time it is summoned, though the paladin may release a particular mount from service.
Each time the mount is called, it appears in full health, regardless of any damage it may have taken previously. The mount also appears wearing or carrying any gear it had when it was last dismissed. Calling a mount is a conjuration (calling) effect.
Should the paladin's mount die, it immediately disappears, leaving behind any equipment it was carrying. The paladin may not summon another mount for thirty days or until she gains a paladin level, whichever comes first, even if the mount is somehow returned from the dead. During this thirty-day period, the paladin takes a -1 penalty on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Celestial Smite Evil (Su): 1/day—Make a normal melee attack with +15 damage.
Dwarven Blood (Ex): The faith scion of Glimir is considered a dwarf, in addition to any other race he may be, for determining if he can use a magic item or cast a spell.
Half-Celestial Traits: Darkvision 60 ft.; +4 racial bonus on Fortitude saves against poison.
Paladin Abilities: Aura of courage, aura of good, divine grace, divine health, lay on hands (60 hp/day), 3/day turn undead (as Clr12; +2 turn checks from Knowledge [religion]).

 Paladin Mount

Galon—Male griffon: Large Magical Beast; HD 6d8+18 plus 7d10+21 (157 hp); Init +2 (+2 Dex); Spd 40 ft. (8 squares), fly 80 ft. (average); AC 26 (-1 size, +2 Dex, +15 natural; touch 11, flat-footed 24); BAB +9/+4; Grapple +19; Atk +15 melee (3d6+6, crit. 20/x2, bite); Full Atk +15 melee (3d6+6, crit. 20/x2, bite) and +12 melee (1d6+3, crit. 20/x2, 2 claws); Space/Reach 10 ft./5 ft.; SA Command, pounce, rake 1d6+3; SQ Darkvision 60 ft., empathic link, improved evasion, low-light vision, scent, share saving throws, share spells; AL LG; SV Fort +12, Ref +8, Will +12; Str 22, Dex 15, Con 16, Int 8, Wis 13, Cha 8.

Languages (cannot speak): Common.
Skills and Feats: Jump +11, Listen +8, Spot +12; Hover, Improved Natural Armor, Improved Natural Attack (bite), Improved Natural Attack (claw), Iron Will, Multiattack, Weapon Focus (bite).
Command (Sp): 7/day—Issue a command to a normal griffon with fewer Hit Dice than himself. This ability functions like the command spell, but the mount must make a DC 21 Concentration check to succeed if it's being ridden at the time. If the check fails, the ability does not work that time, but it still counts against the mount's daily uses. Each target may attempt a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 paladin's level + paladin's Cha modifier) to negate the effect.
Empathic Link (Su): The paladin has an empathic link with her mount out to a distance of up to 1 mile. The paladin cannot see through the mount's eyes, but they can communicate empathically. Note that even intelligent mounts see the world differently from humans, so misunderstandings are always possible.
Because of this empathic link, the paladin has the same connection to an item or place that her mount does, just as with a master and his familiar (see Familiars).
Improved Evasion (Ex): When subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, a mount takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw and half damage if the saving throw fails.
Pounce (Ex): If a griffon dives upon or charges a foe, it can make a full attack, including two rake attacks.
Rake (Ex): Attack bonus +12 melee, damage 1d6+3.
Share Spells: At the paladin's option, she may have any spell (but not any spell-like ability) she casts on herself also affect her mount. The mount must be within 5 feet at the time of casting to receive the benefit. If the spell or effect has a duration other than instantaneous, it stops affecting the mount if it moves farther than 5 feet away and will not affect the mount again even if it returns to the paladin before the duration expires. Additionally, the paladin may cast a spell with a target of "You" on her mount (as a touch range spell) instead of on herself. A paladin and her mount can share spells even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the mount's type (magical beast).
Skills: Griffons have a +4 racial bonus on Jump and Spot checks.
Carrying Capacity: A light load for a griffon is up to 519 pounds; a medium load, 520-1,038 pounds; and a heavy load, 1,039-1,560 pounds.
Character Background: Etheared was born to a human woman in Theymarsh of the Border Kingdoms. His mother died at birth and his father was unknown to him, but he knew he was not like "other" children of his village. Etheared had been born with large, feathery wings, and thus, for his differences, suffered greatly under his peers. Other unique aspects of his mysterious lineage materialized at random, seemingly caused by a combination of trauma and age. As a young lad of 10, he was accosted by a group of older children. They drug him into a deep cave and barricaded the entrance, leaving him alone - and afraid - in the dark. Once his panic relented, he realized that he could begin to make out shapes and patterns. Fear gave way to curiosity, and then to elation as he learned that he could now see approximately sixty feet in the dark! Using this newfound ability, he located an alternate exit from the cave. Upon nearing the mouth of the cave, he observed the group of youths standing near the blocked entrance, laughing at his apparent misfortune. Etheared, not one for petty revenge, simply set out for his makeshift home and let the boys wonder what happened to him.
Throughout the years that followed, Etheared continued to turn the other cheek - not because he was taught this way, but because it just somehow felt "right"; that is, unless someone demonstrated an intent to harm another - which could not be allowed. On the eve of his 18th birthday, Etheared entered his modest abode and was met with an unimaginable sight - a Celestial being, glowing and with wings outstretched, standing before him. Etheared's shock turned to disbelief when he saw the familiar features of this being - so similar to his own! He opened his mouth, attempting to speak, but the words would not come. After was seemed like an eternity, the Celestial announced to Etheared that he was his father. Etheared continued to stand, but he began to feel a weakness in his knees. He then heard these words: "My son, I have been grieved to see you suffer throughout life; at the same time, I am immeasurably proud of how you have conducted yourself. Want to as I may, I have not intervened - until now - in your trials. Yes, my son, what you have experienced thus far in your eighteen years has been a great test of strength of character; strength of will, and the knowledge of what is right and honorable. You have proven that you are most worthy, and that you are ready for the next journey in life; one that I will take with you. For you see, I am a follower of the Great and Just Torm, and I am one of his champions. My time nears an end, and I intend you to replace me. I am here to train you in the ways of the Paladin, should you accept this mission of Faith."
Etheared suddenly felt a great weight rise from his shoulders. With a newfound sense of purpose, he said, "Long have I lived without direction; without purpose. I have tried to live life honorably, and to do right by all others I encounter. I somehow felt that there was more, however. More to life, that I was meant for more than this existence. You have delivered that purpose to me this very day."
For the next five years, Etheared and his father, Acerach, studied, slept, and trained together. The morning of his 23rd birthday, he awoke to find his father sitting silently, and reflecting. "Father," Etheared asked, "What course shall my training take today?" Acerach looked up at his son. "Etheared, you have learned all that I can teach you. You must now make your way in the world; bringing honor and glory to Torm." Etheared couldn't believe his ears. "I have only known you such a short time; why must you leave so soon?" he said, his voice shaking. "Dearest son," Acerach began, "I must go now to take my place at Torm's hand. You have grown in strength, courage, and skill... I am most pleased. I will continue to watch over you, my son." "Shall I have nothing to remember you by, but our time spent together?" Etheared asked, still visibly disheartened. "You shall," Acerach beamed. "My son, it is my most precious possession that I pass on to you. It has been my staunchest ally, my greatest defender, my truest friend. My gift to you is Glimir (pronounced glimmer), a Holy Greatsword of Torm. May the Shining Star of Honor serve you well in battle against evil, no matter the odds." And with that, Acerach unsheathed a glorious greatsword, faintly glowing with a holy aura. Acerach dropped to one knee, and presented the sword to Etheared. "Take it, my most worthy student and son, and become that which you were meant to be." With a trembling hand, Etheared reached out for the greatsword. Taking it in hand, his duty in life was never more clear. He would fight to uphold all that is honorable and good, and do so in Torm's name. When he withdrew his gaze from Glimir, he saw that his father was gone.
Etheared spent the next two years on various missions of Good before encountering The House of Persevering Order. In this temple, he learned of the Triad and the united deities of Torm, Tyr, and Ilmater. Finding kindred spirits in the temple, he chose to remain and continue his studies as an Initiate in the Order.
