 Character Background: Carl (as he is known by his friends and colleagues) hails from the scenic Dalelands at the foot of the Desert's Mouth Mountains. As a child his family lived and learned as psions. They were peaceful folk, who tuned their mental abilities to better serve their deity. Carl was a rambunctious child, who was often punished for his desires to compete and fight with the other children of the village. He learned to love his forbidden forages into the dangerous mountains where he encountered orcs, giants, ogres, and even an occasional dragon. He became so proud of his skills as a fighter that his pride would not allow him to bow down to the wishes of his father and the village elders to return to a peaceful life of service to their god. He was subsequently banned from the commune, and was forced to make his living and his way in the mountains he so enjoyed adventuring in.

Carl quickly learned that he missed having an audience. He met a young druid named Ulmbryn in the hills once as the he traveled from his home in the deserts of Anauroch, and the unlikely pair decided to shed the ways of their "small town" families, and try their luck as adventurers.

Even though Carl was at odds with the peaceful psionic elders, he learned extensive psionic powers and abilities. He also learned from scripts banned by the elders that he could increase his skills and abilities by piercing his flesh and implanting precious gemstones. He can tap into ancient powers in the stones, and he is well versed in the arts of gemology. The conflict within him between the ancient peaceful ways of his psionic familiy and his brash and flamboyant fighting style leads him to be unpredictable and chaotic by nature.

Carl's deity is Tymora, the goddess of luck. He prays for luck, but believes his powers make luck unneeded. He believes any foe can fall at his feet when he swings his exotic Tiger Hooks, and he constantly waits for the next opportunity to prove it to himself and his fellow party members.
