Scholarly Interests

Trained in English and American History, my fields are Kentucky History, State & Local History, and Tudor-Stuart England. My research interests are in southern women's history and material culture and British history. At present, I am completing a history of Warren County, Kentucky. I am also writing biographies of Mary Breckinridge, the founder of the Kentucky Frontier Nursing Service, entitled "Cry for the Children: Mary Brekinridge and FNS" and Fanny Andrews, a Georgia classical botanist. Furthermore, I am completing an essay on Kentucky antebellum silversmiths and producing slide shows on Vita Sackville West's garden at Sissinghurst and on Regency novelist Georgette Heyer. I am a frequent speaker across the state for civic and professional organizations. I also chair the WKU Speakers Bureau.
